A few skincare gems that I’m finding essential this summer…
Usually I would be all about products for oily skin, but this summer I’m going for a mixture of products for both oily & dry skin. It seems that pregnancy is drying my skin out quite a lot (which is extremely rare for me) so I’ve had to start introducing some new products to my skincare routine. I’m still suffering with an oily T-Zone though so all the usual stuff is still essential! There is a lack of cleansing products in this post because of them drying my skin out too much, so I’ve hardly been touching any. My skin has been a lot clearer too which means I haven’t felt the need to go all out with my usual cleansing routine. I don’t wear makeup half as much as I used to these days so I’m putting it down to that! Anyway, these are the products I’ve been loving:
The Body Shop Tea Tree Mattifying LotionΒ | Β£9.00
Tea Tree products are extremely good for oily skin sufferers, as they mattify the skin. The Body Shop Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion is a really good summer moisturiser that is non-oily and will provide lightweight hydration whilst helping to control shine and giving you a matte finish. It’s also the perfect moisturiser to use, not just to prevent oiliness but also to help give you clearer skin. I really like this as it lightly moisturises my face which I definitely need at the moment, but it also helps to control all of the oil in my T-Zone. It’s a gel like formula that makes it feel more like a primer than a moisturiser, but that’s why it works so well with oily skin. You also don’t need to use much so it will last a really long time. It’s on the pricier end for a moisturiser but it’s such a good base to use and a definite must have for the warmer months to stop your makeup melting off! If you have oily skin I 100% recommend this as it really does instantly mattify your face.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub | Β£7.00
So like I said above, I haven’t been going all out with face cleansing products due to them drying my skin out too much lately. But I still like to make sure my face is cleansed, especially after wearing makeup so that I can prevent any spot outbreaks. I’ve been using The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub as it helps to unclog pores without over-drying your skin. You don’t need to use this daily which makes it perfect for me as I don’t wear makeup everyday anymore, so I can save this to use for the days that I do wear it. It makes my skin feel instantly smooth, which is how you know you’re onto a winner with a facial scrub, and it just makes my face feel so clean afterwards. Again this is a really good product for those with oily skin but it’s also just a really great scrub in general for cleaning and exfoliating your face.
GallinΓ©e Hydrating Face Cream* | Β£35.00
Due to pregnancy drying out my skin so much for some reason, I’ve been having to moisturise my face quite a lot with hydrating products. This is honestly one of the best moisturisers I’ve used for dry skin. I wouldn’t have touched this stuff before I was pregnant with how oily my skin was, but with my makeup applying very cakey and clinging to all of my dry patches, this fixed all of my problems. I focus on applying this under my eyes as I have had the driest under eye area and every makeup product I put under them creases into all the fine lines and looks horrible. Ever since I’ve been applying this under them, I’ve had no problems whatsoever. I never thought I would be raving so much about a product for dry skin on my blog! But honestly, if you have dry skin, this is the perfect base for your makeup and it will make your foundation application flawless.
Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream | Β£10.00
I got a 50ml version of this in a little gift set for my birthday and I’ve been using it so much, it smells so good. When you have more skin on show in summer, it’s nice to apply something that’s going to moisturise as well as make you smell good. I like to apply this on my arms & legs and it’s really good for helping to moisturise the dry areas you get on your elbows & knees and it leaves me smelling beaut all day. I love!
Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Hand Food | Β£2.50
A 50ml version of S&G’s Sugar Crush Hand Food also came in the little gift set, and if you read my hand cream edit post then you’ll know I’m not a huge fan of the scent of the original hand food, but I absolutely love the scent of this one! I definitely prefer this one as I love the lime scent. I find that in the summer months, hand creams aren’t just useful for dry hands but also when it’s really warm and you’re busy doing things like blogging away, your hands can get a little sweaty and that’s when a gorgeous smelling hand cream like this comes in perfectly!
