My current cleansing routine & the secret behind my clear skin…
I’ve had really clear skin for a while now, I used to suffer with the oiliest skin possible and my skincare routine has always revolved around it. It caused me all sorts of problems when it came to makeup and caused a lot of breakouts, but over the past few months my skin has been completely normal with a little bit of dryness. I haven’t seen any nasty breakouts for absolutely ages and so I thought I would share my current cleansing routine with you all as I put it down to these gems!
Claudia Louch Botanical Cleansing Lotion* | £37.40
The Claudia Louch Cleansing Lotion is on the pricier end of the spectrum but you get what you pay for. It does a seriously good job of removing makeup and keeping your skin clear, and it also smells absolutely gorgeous. You can use this to give your face a cleanse with or without makeup on but I like using this at the end of a long day when all I want is to scrub all of my makeup off and climb into bed. It’s full of ingredients that make it perfect for clearing the skin of all spots and impurities whilst still being really gentle and not causing any dryness whatsoever. It completely gets rid of all of my makeup and leaves my face feeling so cleansed. I love. The tube contains 240ml of product so you get a lot of product and you hardly need to use any so this is going to last me absolutely ages.
Gallinée Face Mask & Scrub* | £18.00
I like to use the Gallinée Face Mask & Cleanser after I’ve cleared my face of any makeup. This is a two in one product that gives your face a bit of a treatment whilst scrubbing away all impurities and dead skin (yum.) I don’t feel like I need to use this every single day, the recommendation is once or twice a week, but sometimes it’s nice to use it more often because it makes my skin feel so smooth and refreshed afterwards. It’s one of those scrubs that really does the job it’s supposed to, and it has a nice scent to it, kind of like a lemony/fruity scent. My skin is always so soft to the touch after using this, it’s definitely my new favourite skincare product.
Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash | £3.25
I’ve been using this product for forever now, it’s one of those skincare products that just works so well that you end up repurchasing it again and again. Whenever I used to get breakouts, which was quite a lot before I became pregnant, this would help to clear them up so quickly. I find it’s best to use it after you’ve cleansed your face, as once all the pores are open, this stuff gets right in there and you can feel the tingling sensation from it working. If I’m having a really bad breakout, I usually leave this on for 5-10 minutes and let it work its magic. It does tend to dry out the skin a bit so it’s better for people who suffer with oily skin, but it will work on dry skin too as long as you don’t leave it on for too long.
Garnier Cleansing Micellar Water | £3.35
If I’ve worn a lot of makeup, once my skin is all cleansed, I like to come out the bath and just wipe a bit of the Garnier Cleansing Micellar Water all over my face. I use it a bit like a toner just to make sure that my face is completely clean. I prefer using face wash products to clean off my makeup over wipes and cleansers that don’t require being washed off afterwards, but this is just like an additional cleanse.
Boots Essentials Fragrance Free Moisturiser | £1.50
Once my face is all cleansed and refreshed, I like to use the Boots Essentials Moisturiser to put all the moisture back into my skin and keep it soft and supple. For a mere £1.50, this moisturiser is one of my absolute favourites. I went through a stage where I was suffering with quite a bit of dryness and this stuff just saved the day. I usually apply this on a night only but it can be applied on a morning before makeup is applied too if your dryness is really bad. When my skin was incredibly dry, I used this twice a day and it fixed it within a few days, it adds so much moisture to the skin and it’s fragrance free so if you have sensitive skin it’s perfect. I can’t recommend this enough for how little it costs and one tub of it usually lasts me months and months.
