A few beauty picks that are essential for those Autumn tones.
I’ve picked out a few makeup bits that are very Autumn perfect in tone and things that I’ll be reaching for on a regular basis now we’ve got to that time of year. I personally like to wear these kinds of shades all year round as they’re my favourite, but I do find in Summer that I tend to go for more pinks and corals with dewy skin. Whereas Autumn finds me bringing out the deep nude shades, the burgundy eyes and the matte bases. I’ve definitely missed this time of the year and so glad it’s here again, so here are my favourite picks;
Morphe 35O Palette | £19.50
I’ve seen so many bloggers lately saying that they don’t think this is worth the hype and I have to say I strongly disagree. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion of course but it’s a palette that’s less than 20 pounds for 35 different shades, with a mix of mattes and shimmers and every shade is so pigmented. Even with affordable brands like Makeup Geek, you couldn’t even get 5 eyeshadows for the price of this so I really don’t understand where people are coming from. The shades are also absolutely gorgeous, all of the shimmers in this palette are so so pretty. As someone who never goes without wearing eyeshadow, I can strongly say that this is one of the best affordable eyeshadow palettes that’s out there. It’s also such a perfect palette for Autumn with all the bronze, orange and red tones, and I can safely say that I will be using this a lot during A/W. If you’d like to see swatches of the entire palette, you can view my post on it here.
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Palette | £49.00
I went off this palette for a while and started to think it wasn’t really worth the price tag, but I’ve found a love for it again and I’m really glad I still have it. I love my highlight game to be strong, but I think in the colder months it’s nicer to tone it down a bit. I still want to have that glow but I want it to be a little more toned down and natural. The highlight in the CT Palette is one of the prettiest highlights and it’s so gorgeous to wear, I just think it’s so perfect for A/W and I’m going to be reaching for it a lot more often now Summer is over. I also love the bronzer just to take the edge off my pale skin, and I find it really lovely to contour with too without being over the top. If you want a contour/highlight palette that looks gorgeous whilst still being really natural looking, I really recommend this one. Plus, just look at that packaging! #goals
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation | £30.00
If you haven’t tried this foundation yet, what are you waiting for? Estee Lauder DW is my absolute holy grail foundation. I haven’t really been reaching for it during Summer because I was going for a lighter coverage and more dewy skin and I also wasn’t really bothered about a base that lasted an entire day. But during the colder months and preferring a more matte base with better coverage, this is perfect. I find it’s not a heavy foundation to wear at all, yet it lasts all day without budging and gives me the best coverage. It also keeps my oiliness under control all day which is another bonus if you can’t stand being oily! It’s 100% worth the price tag so if you want an amazing high end foundation, this is it.
Mac Copper Pigment | £16.00
I love my loose pigments when it comes to eyeshadows, they just make the prettiest looks. Mac’s Copper Pigment is one of my all time faves and I think the tone of it is perfect for this time of year. I can wear this casually, but it’s also great if you want to go for more of a ‘glam’ look. The only thing that I don’t like about pigments is that they’re so messy! But even with a light hand you get so much product and I’ve had mine for a good year and a half now and it looks like it’s barely been touched.
Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo in ‘On & On Bronze’ | £4.99
I’m not hugely into cream shadows but I do really love this one, it’s a gorgeous bronze shade that’s so easy to wear. I think because it’s quite cool toned it’s a nice alternative to other bronze shades that are warmer in tone. It’s one of those eyeshadows that’s perfect for the effortless eye makeup days which will come in really handy for me as I’m due to have a baby any day now and can’t imagine I’ll have an awful lot of time on my hands!
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in ‘Dolce Vita’ & ‘Walkyrie’ | £20.00
I very recently did a review on these two lip pencils which you can read here. But to sum them up, they’re two shades that I bought specifically for the Autumn months and I’m in love with both. Both shades are gorgeous and so easy to wear, and are matte whilst still being really creamy and non-drying. These will definitely be my go-to Autumn shades this year!
Mac Lip Pencil in ‘Spice’ | £13.00
This is my all time favourite lip pencil, I don’t really tend to wear lip liners anymore but I think just for the sake of this shade I’ll probably dig it out a lot during Autumn. It’s actually really similar to NARS Walkyrie if you can see from above, next to each other they look like they’d make the perfect pair so maybe I’ll wear them together to get a longer lasting base!
Custom Eyeshadow Palette | Makeup Geek & Mac
If you want to read about this eyeshadow palette in full with swatches of each shade, you can read it here. I built this palette purely with shades that I knew I would get the most wear out of and ones that I would quite happily wear all year round for all occasions. However, look how perfect in tone it is for the Autumn months?! It’s really warm toned with lots of bronze and berry tones as well as a few peachy and orange ones and I love it. It’s easily my favourite palette out of all the ones that I own and if I’m not sure what look to go for, I always reach for this one.
So those are my Autumn picks for this year, I’ll try and get around to posting some A/W inspired makeup looks soon so look out for those. What are your Autumn beauty faves?
