I’ve never suffered with dark under eye circles until I became a mummy and lost my beloved sleeping pattern & my afternoon naps. Oh the joys. I’ve never really needed to use much concealer under my eyes, I mostly just used the collection one under my foundation and that was it. But since having my baby boy three months ago, I’ve had to switch up my makeup routine a bit to accommodate my new dark circle friends under the ol’ eye area. These are the products I use to hide those bad boys;
Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment | £20.00
This stuff is an absolute godsend if you suffer with dryness under your eyes. A huge factor of the creasing under my eyes was caused by the dryness and since using this it’s basically fixed the problem. It really moisturises the under eye area and you only need a teeny tiny bit to do the job! I usually apply this before my moisturiser and before I apply my makeup, it works wonders.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer | £16.00
One little discovery I came across not long ago was deciding to use my eyeshadow primer under my eyes as well as on my lids. I thought that if it prevented my eyeshadow from creasing all day then maybe it would prevent my concealer creasing too? Of course it does and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever discovered. It really is worth trying with any eyeshadow primer you use! I use the UD Eyeshadow Primer in Eden which is actually perfect because it has a yellow tone to it which also helps to counteract my dark circles. I apply this after my moisturiser and before my concealer.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer | £22.50
The NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade ‘Chantilly’ is the best concealer for hiding dark under eye circles and brightening the eye area. I’ve never found anything that comes close to being as good as it and I definitely think it’s worth purchasing if you want something really good. I think I mentioned ages ago that I didn’t think this was worth the hype but ever since my under eye circles got pretty bad, I now couldn’t live without it! Not only is it an amazing concealer, but you also don’t need to use that much to get good coverage and it has an amazing shade range.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer | £17.50
I purchased this one after hearing all the hype surrounding it and I do really like it, I just find it to be very watery. In some ways it’s a good thing as it spreads quite far and gives a lot of coverage to an area, but also because of this I don’t find it to give as good coverage to dark under eye circles. I always apply this over my eyeshadow primer and underneath the NARS Creamy Concealer, that way I get extra coverage.
Art Deco Fixing Powder | £11.75
I find loose powders to be quite drying but they’re absolutely amazing at preventing the concealer under your eyes from creasing all day. I’m yet to try brands such as Laura Mercier but for a more affordable alternative, I recommend trying this Art Deco one because I use it all of the time and it’s fab! I set my under eye concealer with a little bit of this every day and it gives the best finish plus I don’t crease all day long. Highly recommend.
So that’s my under eye routine, not too complicated but I maybe use a few more products than most. I find this routine works wonders for me though, if you’re prone to oiliness or creasing under the eyes then I definitely recommend you try it out 🙂
