My thoughts on the new Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powders…
Rimmel have brought out a brand new brow product that’s really unique and unlike most other brow products. The in thing at the moment seem to be brow pomades, but maybe that will soon change… The Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder* applies almost like a liquid yet it’s a powder, I find it so strange! I hate brow palettes that have powders in as I just can’t work them with my personal brow preference which is nicely shaped & defined. But this stuff is totally different to those and I’m finding that the more practice I get with it, the more I like it. I also find other brow powders to apply very sheer which isn’t great for darker brows but this product applies quite heavily, you almost have to work with a light hand.
The applicator is a smooth sponge type wand which is quite thick, I tried using it to apply the product with at first but my brows ended up having far, far too much product on. I definitely don’t recommend using the wand to actually fill in your brows with, just use it to apply a bit of product with. I feel like it’s a liquid to powder product the way it applies. I’ve found that the best way to fill in my brows with it is to apply a bit of the powder to my brows using the wand, and then I use my Anastasia Beverly Hills Angled Brush to shape my brows and brush the product in. Once filled in, my brows were practically budge-proof, I was really impressed. Another way that this product would work well with is to use a spoolie to comb it through, especially if you want to achieve a more natural brow.
There are four shades in the range currently, Blonde, Medium Brown, Dark Brown & Black. I’ve been using the Dark Brown shade as it’s a warm chocolate brown that pairs perfectly with my hair colour. Hopefully Rimmel will add more shades to the range in the future as I definitely think it could do with a few more options. I’m going to try the Medium Brown out next as I think the Dark Brown is a little too dark for my liking.
Retailing for £5.99, I think that these are a pretty great drugstore brow product, especially because of how well they last. I do think that if you’re not used to a product like this that it will take a bit of practice until you work out how to use it for your own brows, but other than that it’s fab.
