Oh baby boy, you have made this the best 7 months of my life.
Reuben has now been in my life for more than half a year, how crazy is that? Can you guys remember my pregnancy updates?! They were like 5 minutes ago. I’m pretty sure I say something along these lines every monthly update but oh well. I will never get over how fast he’s growing. If you’ve noticed, it’s been a while since my last monthly update, and this is because silly me was doing them every 4 weeks instead of by the date of the month. I noticed everyone else with babies very close in age to Reuben were doing their monthly updates way later than mine and then it clicked. It’s just because you start off from newborn doing their age in weeks and I just never got out of it. You’d think I would have got out of it by 6 months but nope… ANYWAY it doesn’t matter because I can start now. He was born on the 13th of the month, today is the 13th, therefore happy 7 months to Ru!

New Things
Now for the biggy… I caught him on insta stories trying to use the bars on his playpen to lift himself up the other day. I didn’t really think much of it to be honest as never in a million years did I think he was at the standing stage yet. Well he sure proved mama wrong as the very next day, I was just casually sat on the sofa with my morning coffee browsing Instagram, to turn around and see him in his playpen FULLY STOOD UP. I kid you not, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I think I’m still in shock over it now, it was just so unexpected. I mean I’m not talking freestanding but all he’s holding on to is the bars with his hands, he’s not leaning against anything! That guy is just so determined to do everything early, he’s growing up far too fast for my liking. Walking next Ru yeah?

My dad came round this week to lower his cot because now that he can stand, he was caught leaning over his cot bars trying to peek out the door and I dread to think what would have happened if he fell over. I had him in my bed (lol he’s in it practically every night gem) until it was sorted because I don’t think I could have slept if I left him in his cot. But it’s all good now, it’s a bit of a drop when I lean in to put him to bed but it’s do-able. I’m sure he’ll be standing up at the bars every morning in no time so it will be a breeze to lift him out.

Favourite Things
One of his favourite things to do now is scream, when he’s upset, when he wants attention, when he’s happy – he has a scream for pretty much everything. I can’t deny that it melts my heart, when he’s just playing and I hear his cute little baby squeal. I mean seriously, it’s adorable. Maybe not so much when he’s having a “can I cry or scream louder?” moment but the rest of the time it’s the cutest thing ever.
He loves to discover things and go on adventures. Mainly around the house, but he will crawl around until he comes across something exciting, like a plug, or an electrical wire, or my camera stand that he likes to knock over… yano, basically anything he isn’t allowed. Then there’s other times where he discovers the washing basket full of washing and he sits there for half an hour trying to tip it over and plays with all the clean socks. Whatever keeps you happy eh Ru bear? I guess he’s just being a typical boy, they love going on adventures and things don’t they?
His new favourite foods are yogurt and milky buttons. Whenever he sees me get the petits filous out of the fridge, his eyes light up with excitement – same with the milky buttons packet. I try not to give him too much chocolate but he’s allowed a treat now and again, especially if he’s been playing nicely and letting mama get on with some work! He still loves his veggies, he eats more veg than fruit these days. He also loves bananas, I usually mash one up with his porridge. Oh my god, his porridge, how could I forget?! I’ve never known someone love porridge as much as Reuben does, he’s absolutely obsessed!! So yeah, he may love chocolate but he also loves healthy foods too so it’s all good.
