Now it’s Autumn, I’ve mixed up my makeup a little to suit the season and these have been my picks lately…
I’m not going to lie, it took me a while to put down my summery picks. I’m still reaching for some of them now & again because I love applying pretty pinks and peaches to my lips. Highlight hasn’t been a problem as I’m now preferring to reach for a more subtle one, and the same with my blush. I’m still obsessed with the NYX ombre blush which is fine as it’s the perfect Autumnal colour anyway! So I’ve finally started changing up my makeup routine more & more so that it fits more with the current season and I’m going to share the things I’ve been using lately.
Too Faced Hangover Primer // Β£27.00
When the weather gets colder, it always causes my skin to get drier which isn’t great for makeup application. I do have quite dry skin anyway, particularly on my forehead and my nose so the primer that always helps me out is the Too Faced Hangover Primer. It’s such a good makeup primer to use to hydrate the skin as well as helping your makeup last longer. It melts into my skin with ease, leaving it soft & supple ready for my base.
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation // Β£29.00
At this time of year, I like to reach for a base with a little more coverage. I always tend to get a lot more breakouts during the colder months, as well as redder skin, so I like using a foundation that gives me a good amount of coverage to help hide everything well. The one I’ve been using lately is the Too Faced Born This Way, which I’ve had for a while now. I do tend to get a little oily with this but that’s what makes it perfect for the colder weather as it doesn’t cling to any dry patches. The coverage is medium/heavy and I never need to use concealer on top so that tells you how good it is! I usually put a little bit of a mattifying primer in my T-Zone area to help deal with any oiliness.
NYX HD Concealer Wand // Β£6.00
I always, always reach for a liquid concealer to hide my dark under eye circles, no matter how little makeup I’m wearing. The one I’m loving at the moment is the NYX HD Concealer Wand as for me, it lives up to the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer for a fraction of the price. I’m actually running out of this because I’ve been using it so much, it’s so good! The shade Porcelain is so light and brightening, it’s almost as light as NARS Chantilly which is perfect as I love how light that one is. It covers up my dark under eye circles with one swipe and a bit of blending, I can’t recommend it any more!
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow // Β£49.00
I’ve had this palette for such a long time now, I remember splurging on it a couple of years ago and reaching for it non-stop for ages. I then got a bit bored of it and started reaching for other products, so it had been sat in the back of my makeup drawers for a while, until recently. I started getting a bit sick of wearing really bold highlighter and I wanted something a bit more natural and the highlight in this palette ticks all of my boxes. I love that it can be built up to achieve a bit more of a glow whilst still blending in seamlessly and having a lovely natural look about it. I honestly think this is the most perfect highlight for everyday wear – Charlotte Tilbury need to bring it out on its own!
NYX Ombre Blush in Mauve Me // Β£9.00
Have you ever seen a blush as Autumnal as this? It’s got to be the perfect shade! I’ve been obsessed with this ever since I first got it, I’ve barely put it down. I just love the colour so much and think it compliments my skin tone perfectly, as well as pairing perfectly with the shade of my contour. If you’re looking for a beautiful blush for A/W then I really recommend trying out this one from NYX, it suits all skin tones.
Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics // Β£24.00
On my eyes, I’ve been reaching for the UD Naked 2 Basics Palette mostly. I just feel like this is Autumn in a palette when it comes to eyeshadows, the purple/brown tones are ideal. I don’t usually reach for cooler toned shadows, but these ones are actually not too cool that they don’t suit my skin tone. The two shades I’ve been using the most are ‘cover’ and ‘primal’ which work perfectly all over the lid on their own or in the crease with a bronze.
Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On & On Bronze // Β£5.99
Bronze tones always seem to make an appearance at this time of year, they just pair perfectly with a bold berry lip don’t they? If I fancy adding something to make my eyes pop a bit more (which is most days) then I love applying a bit of this all over my lid combined with the Naked 2 Basics Palette. The two work together so well!
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Budapest // Β£6.00
I love my nude lipsticks, I really do, but if I have an excuse to wear a bold lip then I’ll take it. Autumn is the perfect excuse and the lipstick I’ve been obsessed with is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Budapest. Ever since I received it from Debenhams, I have been hooked – it’s so gorgeous! If you don’t have this already then you honestly need it, the colour is beautiful.
Have you guys switched up your makeup collection for autumn yet?
