As if it’s November already and we’re on the countdown to Christmas – crazy!
Where is the year going? I just can’t get over how fast time goes. There’s so much to do before Christmas that I’m constantly making little to-do lists and keeping notes on my phone, so why not make a blog post out of it? Christmas is a lot more magical for me this year because I have a baby! Last year he was only a tiny newborn so even though it was his first Christmas, he didn’t have a clue what was going on. He still doesn’t really as he’s only one but I feel like there’s a lot more he can enjoy this year. Anyway, lets get into the good stuff…
Start Making Christmas Content.
One of my favourite things about this time of year is the gift guides! Last year I remember getting so creative with my flat lays, buying lots of festive props and I can’t wait to do it again. I’ve already started buying a few Christmas bits and PR packages have started arriving too so I’ve photographed a couple all ready to upload. They will all start going live within the next week or two, so keep a look out!
Take More Lifestyle Shots.
I’ve been posting quite a lot of lifestyle photography over on my Instagram and I just love how it looks. A few people have commented on how much they’re loving my feed at the moment which makes me so happy because I’ve really been working on upping my insta game. I’ve developed a love from photographing Reuben for creating magical looking photos, not just when taking them but also when editing them and I really want to do a lot more of it. You will see lots of magical content on my baby spam insta I’m sure, but I’d also like to take more lifestyle photos for my main insta too. The outdoors in Autumn makes it so easy, so lets hope Winter does too!
Decorate the House for Christmas.
I mean come on, who leaves it until December? This month, maybe at the end of it, I want to get a real tree. We had one last year for the first time at my parents house and I fell in love, they look and smell amazing. I looked into getting a realistic looking fake one, just because I’m not sure how well the pine needles are going to go down with a toddler in the house, but it’s just not the same. Also, a decent fake one costs around £200+ and I can pick a real one up at a local farm for about £50, so clearly I am going to get a real one since they are so much better anyway!! I think I’m going for a 7ft one and I’ve already ordered the base. This is my first Christmas in my own home so I have no tree decorations or anything, so it’s very exciting buying it all for the first time!
Have a Clear Out.
Okay I could probably do with clearing out my wardrobe, I don’t own that many clothes but there’s loads of stuff shoved in there from when I was pregnant etc that needs to go. BUT, the main reason I want to have a clear out is because Reuben has so much crap that he has grown out of and I really need to start tidying the house up and getting rid of it all. I think I’m going to get rid of some of his toys too, he has so many that he doesn’t even play with them all and with Christmas round the corner he’s going to get even more!
Start Putting a Christmas Eve Box Together.
I didn’t do one last year as he was too little, but this year I’m going to make Ru a Christmas Eve box. I can’t wait to buy him some cute festive jammies and magical reindeer sweets, plus all the rest! Christmas is so exciting when you have kids. Let me know if you have any ideas for it (bearing in mind he’s only one) as I have never done one before and I want to make it really good!
What’s on your November to-do list?
