Happy New Year everyone!
Hope you all had a fab time celebrating the new year last night or had a nice chilled evening at home (like I did!) Today I want to share my goals for the year, these aren’t resolutions or anything, just a few things that I would like to achieve before the end of 2018 which I’m sure will come round so fast like it always seems to. Especially when you have children *sob* – anyway, if you’d like to see what goals I’ve set for the year, then here they are…
Hit 10k on Instagram.
This is a huge goal for me, something I’ve desperately wanted to achieve for ages now. The main reason is just so I can finally have the swipe up feature on insta stories as it’s so useful for promoting blog content amongst other things. I’m constantly getting messaged asking where things are from and if I can link to things for people and this would make my life SO much easier! It’s not even to hit the number (which would also be nice) it’s literally a goal simply for that feature!
Find a job I love.
I don’t know if this will happen this year or next, but Reuben will be two in October and will therefore be entitled to free childcare at nursery. I am planning on working full time instead of freelance once that happens and I would really like to be able to find a job that I would enjoy doing. I’ve found it really hard to find anything remotely decent where I live in the past few months when I’ve been looking so once I’m sort of forced into going back to work full time, I would like it to be something I don’t hate!
Invest in more luxury items.
I’ve just ordered myself my first Diptyque candle which I would class as a luxury purchase – £45 on a candle? I wish I’d made the splurge earlier as I know it’s something that I would make last a long time and have on display in my house. I think this is something I want to do more of in 2018, save up for more luxury items like maybe a Jo Malone fragrance and candle, or even something beauty related like an hourglass palette. I do treat myself to high end makeup but it’s always within reason and I never buy the things that are super expensive so I would like to save more for a couple now & again!
Learn to drive.
I’m so sick of not having the freedom driving gives you, and not being able to go shopping in new places! Where I live is awful for shopping and we don’t have Primark or Lush or any of the good shops so I always have to get my parents to take me out. I also have to rely on my dad if I want to take Reuben out walking in the country and things like that so I honestly think it’s time I invested in driving lessons and got myself a car. I’m really hoping I get this done this year, I’ve had a handful of lessons before so hopefully I can pick it back up fairly quickly.
Get in shape.
I’m one of those people that is desperate to get into a workout routine but I just can’t seem to do it. I always seem to be busy and have something that needs doing and I just never find the time to workout. I joined the gym last year for a couple of months and I felt so much better for it but had to cancel my membership due to lack of childcare so I really want to get into a routine from home. I honestly think I could benefit hugely from a PT but I’m not sure I can afford one yet so the goal is to get one of those too!
Spend more time enjoying the little things.
Being a single parent, running a blog and trying to earn an income from home is a lot of work. I feel like I never stop half the time and when I have 5 minutes I go and sit and play with Ru and it’s just the best thing ever. I want to put aside more time and just enjoy the little things like playing cars with him for half an hour or sitting and reading to him. I don’t do it as much as I should and I love nothing more than giving my little boy my undivided attention so it’s definitely a goal to do more of that this year.
Grow my blog.
I’m sure this is a goal for most bloggers every year, but last year I saw an amazing growth within my blog and I really hope I see that again this year. I want to keep producing content that you guys love, I want to better my photography and I just want to carry on enjoying creating posts. I think the dream is to be able to blog full time as a job for most people, but even if I never get that far I still want to continue to enjoy it as it’s something I truly love and have a passion for. I really hope I can double my monthly page views if nothing else this year just so I know that my hard work is paying off.
What are your goals for 2018?
