Β The outcome of a whole week of self-care with Cult Beauty…
So my first week of daily retreats with Cult Beauty has come to an end, but I can assure you it won’t be the last. I’ve had messages all week on Instagram from you guys wanting to join in and take part with this – a few people even asked if they could use my own personal check list! I’m so glad you all enjoyed it as much as I have, it’s been such a good way to look after myself more and improve my week. It can be difficult as a mum to find a bit of ‘me time’ and a few simple daily tasks makes it so much more achievable. If you haven’t read my original post, you can read it here – but lets see how my week went…
Monday
Drink 2 litres of lemon infused water.Β Boy, did I feel so much better after a day of drinking this much lemon infused water. I used the water bottle I got with my So Shape order which is a huge drinking bottle with a section in the middle where you can put slices of fruit. It made it so much easier to drink this amount of water as I just carried it around with me all day. I also put a few ice cubes in there to keep it nice and cold and not only was it so refreshing, but I didn’t feel bloated for the entire day which is a huge bonus for me considering I do suffer with it quite a lot. I’ve been making more of an effort since to drink this much every day and it’s really paying off!
Tuesday
Deep cleanse my skin.Β I can’t believe how much this has helped my skin this week, just one day of focusing on giving my skin a really good cleanse has lead to me having the best week. I’ve had no breakouts and I’ve felt super confident on my makeup free days and I’m definitely putting it down to this deep cleanse. I’ve been using my Sunday Riley Luna Oil all week too and my skin has never looked so good!
Wednesday
Have a soak in a hot bubble bath with a good book.Β I so needed this, this week. Reuben came down with the flu and it’s been a bit of a horrendous week so I’m glad I set an evening aside to give myself some much needed relaxation time. I managed to start reading a new book which I probably wouldn’t have found the time to do otherwise and I’m really enjoying it so far. I also did a bit of theory practice whilst I was in there so that was pretty handy too!
Thursday
Avoid carbs for the day.Β This was a lot harder than I thought it would be but I honestly felt so much better for it. I definitely wouldn’t go more than one or two days a week without carbs but even just one little day off left me feeling so much lighter. I spent the rest of the week trying to reduce my carb intake massively and I’ve felt less bloated and a lot more energised. I think I might try avoiding carbs for two out of my three meals a day after this task going so well.
Friday
Do some yoga.Β Friday was the day where the flu well and truly hit my poor baby hard so thank goodness I managed to get this done in the morning otherwise I definitely wouldn’t have bothered! The day sort of went down hill in the afternoon but a bit of yoga in the morning left me feeling very relaxed beforehand. I would really like to get into a routine of doing this more often, and maybe incorporating it into a workout regime.
Saturday
Organise my beauty stash.Β I only managed to get a little bit of this done unfortunately, poorly mummy & poorly baby means not much gets done. However, I always feel so satisfied when my desk is tidier and the fact that I started is better than nothing! I believe in the saying “tidy home, tidy mind” and my drawers are already looking a lot more decluttered. I plan on finishing this when I’m feeling a bit better, even getting rid of old makeup makes me feel so refreshed!
Sunday
Have an early night.Β I’m glad I set myself the task to actually have an early night, I’m in a terrible habit of going to bed late at the moment anyway – never mind the fact that my poorly baby isn’t sleeping very well! After being hit hard by the flu on Saturday afternoon, an early night is exactly what I needed. I really need to make sure I force myself to have more of these as a good nights sleep makes me wake up feeling so much better and far more productive.
Overall, I’m feeling so much better after a week of retreats, I even feel far more productive! I think I might start adding this into my planner every month to give myself a week of self care. It would be great to mix it up every month too and set myself different tasks for each month.
Let me know if you plan on taking part in Cult Beauty’s #dailyretreats campaign, and don’t forget to use the hashtag!
