A few beauty picks from Crown Brush…
Heard of Crown Brush? I sure have… however, until recently I was unaware that they sold makeup as well as brushes. I was verrrrry eager to try out some of their beauty bits, especially since I already love their makeup brushes, so I picked out a few things from their website. Today I’m going to share what I picked up and tell you my thoughts on each of the products – spoiler, there’s some beaut swatches.
Longwear Foundation // I always love trying out new foundations, however I do find it tricky to find one that works well for me due to needing something hydrating but matte because of my combination skin! I thought I’d give this one from Crown a try because long wearing foundations are normally winners am I right?! I love the sleek bottles they come in, simple but with a high end look and feel, and they also come with a pump which is always a plus. I’ve worn the foundation a couple of times now, I have it in the shade light which is ideal for my slightly tanned skin. I found the coverage to be quite light even though it says it’s medium/heavy. I would say it’s more light/medium and buildable which is fine, as most people like that in a foundation, but when I have blemishes it’s not got enough coverage for me. I think this foundation will be one I’ll reach for a lot more in the Spring/Summer months when my skin is doing better and I want something with less coverage. It lives up to the claims of being long wearing and it dries down to a nice dewy finish that stays put with a good setting powder.
Golden Glow Liquid Illuminator // Liquid illuminators are so popular within the blogging community, so when I saw Crown did their own, I had to give it a try! I have one of the NARS illuminators and I absolutely love it, however some days I find it to be a tad too glowy if I want something a bit more natural. I find this golden glow illuminator to be a little more subtle and it looks gorgeous underneath and on top of my foundation, it compliments my skin tone perfectly too! If you have neutral or yellow undertones, this will look amazing with your skin, see the swatch below for reference. I’m suffering with a really bad breakout at the moment but I’m hoping my skin will be cleared up once the weather gets warmer and I’m pretty excited to wear minimal makeup with this gorgeous glowy goodness all over my cheek bones!
Glamstick in Copper Crayon // I’m loving eyeshadow sticks at the moment, they are so easy to quickly apply without putting in too much effort. Playing around with eyeshadow palettes is one of my favourite things to do but it’s not very practical on a rushed morning with a wild toddler. I’ve been wearing a lot of cream shadows and shadow sticks over the past few months so I jumped at the chance to add another to my collection. The glamstick in copper crayon is a beautiful champagne toned shade that looks stunning all over the lid or even just as a brow bone & inner corner highlight. I feel like this is quite subtle compared to your usual shimmery shadow sticks so it’s perfect for something more toned down for everyday wear. I’ve actually used this on the tops of my cheek bones and down my nose too as it makes a very gorgeous subtle highlight!
Bronze & Glo Palette // If I had to pick a favourite product out of this haul, it would be this palette. The bronze & glo palette is absolutely beautiful and oh my lord, just look at those swatches below. The pigmentation of every single shade is insane and there’s a highlight for every occasion! I’m actually loving using these shades as eyeshadows too, when I want a pop of shimmer in the centre of my lid. The pink & gold tones are so gorgeous that I can’t resist, they make such pretty eyeshadows as well as highlighters! The white highlight in this is one of my new faves, it’s a white frost with blue glitter running through it so it’s got the most gorgeous iridescent finish. If you’re looking for an ABH glow kit dupe then this baby is half the price!
Blush & Glo Palette // Another palette that is a new favourite of mine is the blush & glo, again these are super pigmented shades with lots of shimmer running through them. The NARS blushes are some of my favourites because of how glowy they make my skin look so I’m looking forward to getting plenty of wear out of these ones. The pinks are going to be so perfect for Spring, even though they look quite bold on the swatches, they look lovely on the cheeks. I am quite a subtle blush kinda gal and go heavy on the contour & bronzer so I use a light hand with these and get the perfect finish. The cream shade in this palette is a beautiful highlight too, especially with my yellow undertones!
