Seen my new baby change bag? Doesn’t look like one does it?!
For the past year and a half, I’ve carried around a change bag that I don’t particularly like. When I was pregnant, I was fresh out of uni so I went for something affordable but I actually really liked it at the time, it wasn’t my idea of a pretty handbag but for a change bag it was okay. I went for something more suited to my baby than me and my own style though, forgetting that it would be me actually carrying it around everywhere. Since then my style has changed quite a lot and I’m much more girly now, forever lusting after handbags and realising there’s no point buying them as I still have a one year old and won’t ever use them. I then came across Beau bags (previously known as Baby Beau but now Beau after a rebrand) and I fell head over heels in love with them… a baby change bag that doesn’t even look like one? How?! They kindly sent me the Ellie Tan and wow am I in love with it, it’s such a beautiful bag and is so ME.
The outside.
The Ellie Tan is designed in premium leather, and is fashionable yet practical at the same time. It can be hand held but it also comes with an adjustable strap so you can carry it on your shoulder or put it where all us mama’s usually put them, on the pram bars. It has beautiful gold hardware that I’m in love with too. I mean just look at it… all the heart eyes over here! It looks so luxurious and is perfect for everyday use but also glamorous enough to take out on an evening. It’s so spacious too, admittedly not as spacious as my old one but I’ve got used to it after getting rid of loads of the crap I carried around and didn’t need anymore. I feel like as a mum you just fill your bag with anything and everything so now that I’ve emptied my old bag to replace it with my new one, I’ve managed to have a good old clear out.
The inside.
The inside has everything you could possibly need when out and about with a baby. First of all it has a water resistant interior which we all know comes in useful with little ones and spillages. It has an insert which can actually be removed if you don’t need it. This would convert it to a regular handbag and give you a bit more room, but if you have a baby I’m pretty sure you’d prefer to leave it in. It’s fab for when your little one grows up though as it means the handbag is still of use to you! The insert is beau’s famous organiser and has a gorgeous striped print which compliments the leather perfectly. I love it because it has so many pockets meaning I have places to put nappies, nappy creams, nappy bags, dummies, toys, bibs… pretty much everything and keep it all separate and organised. My previous change bag only had a few pockets and I had to constantly rummage through it to find anything. Nightmare. I love that I can put all the changing essentials in the pockets and then leave my essentials in the middle, aka makeup and my purse. I only change Ru occasionally when we go out so I don’t really want all his nappies and stuff to be the first thing I reach when I open the bag. But of course I can’t go anywhere without them, so the pockets are perfect, keeping them out of the way but easily found.
It also has a detachable zip pouch which is so useful. At first I was going to pop things like concealer and lipstick in here but I’ve ended up putting tampons and stuff in because as a lady you never know when you’re going to need them so they’re a handbag essential. I also have some hand sanitiser and tissues in there and basically any little bits that I might need when going to a toilet or change room. The detachable pouch makes it a perfect place to keep them as they’re the kind of things you don’t really want to be rooting through your bag for.
The other two bits that come with the bag include a leather changing mat which I’m a little bit obsessed with. It’s such a strange thing to love but honestly, for a portable change mat it’s gorgeous! It’s thick and soft yet has a wipeable surface and buttons up so that you can tuck it away nicely. So handy. There’s also a leather bottle holder which I actually don’t keep in the bag as Ru is 16 months now and we don’t tend to carry bottles around with us as he only has one on a morning and one before bed. But if I’d had this bag a year ago, I would have absolutely loved it because it’s absolutely perfect for keeping a bottle of milk warm in! It can either keep them warm or cold for hours at a time so I would have found this so useful back when he was tiny and I had to carry his milk around with me.
Overall I am so pleased with this bag, not only is it beautiful but it’s so practical and comes with everything that’s so handy to have with little ones. I love it so much that I kinda want another bag from them now, especially since they convert to regular handbags after you’re finished using it as a baby change bag…
Have you heard of Beau’s gorgeous baby change bags?
