A May skincare round-up...
Over the past month or so I've managed to really clear up my acne once and for all. I barely have any spots anymore and even the scarring and redness have reduced massively. It's 100% down to all of these skincare products that I've been using religiously so I thought that I would round them all up and tell you what wonders they've done for my skin!
Antipodes Apostle Skin Brightening & Tone Correcting Serum
I raved about this Antipodes skin brightening and tone correcting serum in my Antipodes brand focus post, but I honestly can't recommend it enough if you suffer with red, blotchy skin like I do. It instantly corrects my skin tone when I apply it in the morning and evening and it leaves my face looking so healthy! I've been using this religiously for weeks and I'm sure it's a huge contributor to my skin looking so clear.
Antipodes Manuka Honey Skin Brightening Eye Cream
Another favourite I featured recently was the manuka honey skin brightening eye cream from Antipodes also. This has been my go-to eye cream over the past few weeks, the tiniest amount goes such a long way and my dark under eye circles are barely noticeable these days. I require such little concealer when doing my face on a morning and considering most nights I don't get that much sleep due to staying up and working, that's pretty impressive! It really does brighten up my skin and is worth every single penny, I'll definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out.
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+
I got sent some bits recently from La Roche-Posay, a brand that I haven't tried before. I say some bits, they were very generous and actually sent me a huge box full including some bits for Reuben too which was so lovely of them. One of the products that I've used religiously since then was the Effaclar Duo+ which is an anti-blemish treatment for oily and acne-prone skin which is exactly my skin type. It contains salicylic acid and can be used on a daily basis so I've been applying it every morning before makeup. It says it's a daily moisturiser but I use it as more of a serum before I apply my moisturiser as I find it works better that way for me. This is one of the products that I've been using over the period that my skin has become so clear and it's definitely helped to fight any blemishes from appearing as I've probably had about two tiny ones in an entire month. I'd definitely recommend picking this up if you want something to help prevent breakouts, it's so affordable compared to most good skincare on the market too!
Mario Badescu Acne Serum
If you're a regular reader then you've probably heard me raving about the Mario Badescu drying lotion before which I still swear by - however, when I was down in London I saw a load of Mario Badescu skincare bits in Urban Outfitters and I couldn't resist picking up a few bits to try out. One of the products that I got was the acne serum that I've been using ever since and it's almost as much of a miracle worker as the drying lotion! Whilst my acne was really bad, I was applying this over the affected areas (mainly my cheeks and chin) and I was waking up to the entire area looking so much less inflamed and blotchy. My acne scarring is nowhere near as bad as it was and I know this has helped so much as I was using it before I even got the La Roche-Posay number. I've put this to the back of the shelf now as my skin is now in good shape but if you're an acne sufferer then I 100% advise giving this a try.
Loccitane Shea Light Comforting Cream
If there's one product you're going to pick up in this post, it has to be the light comforting face cream from Loccitane. This is a non-greasy moisturiser that's perfect for combination skin made with 5% shea butter to keep your skin lovely and soft. It answers all of my skins needs because it fights the dryness whilst not accentuating my oily areas in the slightest, I am obsessed. The jar it comes in is so lovely and it looks and feels luxurious inside and outside of the packaging. It has a gorgeous subtle scent to it but is super gentle on my sensitive skin. The moisturising properties in it work wonders and I have such soft and supple skin even only using it once a day! I've never thought about investing in Loccitane before for my daily skincare but I'm dying to try out some other bits from them now.
Loccitane Shea Butter Hand Cream
Another Loccitane product that I've been loving lately is the limited edition shea butter hand cream with the rifle paper co design. Not only is the packaging insanely beautiful but the hand cream itself is absolutely lush. I suffer with such dry skin on my hands with having eczema combined with a toddler I have to clean up after 24/7 that a good hand cream is an absolute essential to me. I've been loving using this one as it's so moisturising but soaks in fairly quickly and leaves my hands with a gorgeous subtle scent. It's a bit like the face cream and doesn't leave my hands greasy at all, I love it!
