Despite what your social media feeds are trying to tell you, everyone has their bad days. There is no shame in this, sadly they’re just a part of life. It’s important you remember to put the time aside to relax, recharge and look after yourself. Don’t force yourself into feeling ok straight away. Take some deep breaths and give yourself some self-care.
Chat With a Friend
Even though it can be hard, one of the best things you can do when you’re having a bad day is to talk about it with someone. Even if it’s just a quick text to a friend to let them you had a tough time today, it will make you feel a bit lighter for sharing the load with someone. Their response, even if it’s something as simple as “sorry to hear that” will make you feel a little better. It’s never a bad thing to share your feelings with your loved ones.
Go Outside
At the end of a tough day, you’re going to be tempted to crawl under a blanket and not move for the rest of the evening. Don’t worry, you can absolutely do that. Before you do, though, try and go for a walk. Even if it’s just for five minutes. The fresh air will do you so much good, and it will give you some time to clear your head. You’ll feel so much better for getting out of the house.
Watch a Film
The chances are all you’ll want to do is forget about the day you had, which is completely understandable. If you want to get out of your head, you can put on a film. It can be a wonderful distraction. Whether you want to go with a familiar favourite or something new, make sure it’s one that will put you in a good mood. Save the gripping dramas or thrillers for a time when you’ve got a bit more mental energy to spare.
Have a Bath
A lovely way to unwind is run a hot bath, drop in some essential oils, light a candle, and let your worries melt away. Neom Organics offer a fabulous range of products for your next pamper session. Some of their scents are specifically designed to help you to destress and to sleep better. Your bathroom will fill with fragrances and calm the senses. You can go to bed in a much more mellow mood than the one you started your evening off with.
