A little April update...
I don't do these kinds of posts nearly often enough do I?! Quite a few things have gone down lately in my world, I've been busy with lots of work, making lots of plans, booking holidays... it's also been the Easter half term for Reuben so he's been off nursery for the last two weeks and it's safe to say we've well and truly soaked up the gorgeous weather. Anyway, let's chat about a few things that I'm up to at the moment shall we?
A new look?
I changed my blog theme a couple of weeks ago after the whole Pipdig palava, despite only buying the previous theme at the end of last year, I'd been wanting a new look anyway! I had the most popular and newest theme from Pipdig and everyone and their dog was using it. I know that I'll never be the only person with a design when buying a premade template that's available to everyone, but I was sick of seeing it on everyyyyyy blog I read. I'm smitten with my new one and I think it showcases my photography a lot better on my homepage than the last one anyway. What do you think?
Trying new things.
I may have mentioned this before (I can't remember tbh) but I really want to dive into more travel content this year and I think the year is off to a great start if I'm honest! I collaborated with a company where I rented a car for a week in February and did some content on the road trip that we did, and then shortly afterwards I went to Edinburgh for a few days with Ru. I've since booked another holiday and I have a couple of hotel vouchers to use which were gifted for a previous post. I have no obligation to do reviews of the hotels themselves but why would I miss out on the opportunity to create more travel content? It's the perfect opportunity! I'm also planning on booking a little getaway with Reuben, just two or three days abroad on a beachy holiday, nothing major. I'm just waiting to get some cheap flights with my apps!
A trip to Krakow!
As mentioned above, I booked a few days away abroad - wait for it - child free! I was looking for cheap flights one night and an offer came up for roughly Β£40 for a return flight to Krakow. I could nottttt miss out for that price and I decided not to take Reuben with me, as our last city break was a bit boring for him. I want to go somewhere I can take lots of snaps and explore and I just felt like he would get a bit hot and bothered doing that all day. He's staying with grandma and grandad and I'm sure he'll have far more fun at home but I'm still worried about leaving him for 4 days and also feel extremely guilty! Hopefully a good deal will come up soon so I can take him away on a more relaxed holiday... well as relaxed as one can be with a toddler...
Heading to London.
A week before Krakow (next week to be exact) I'm heading to London for the day as I bought my sister some tickets for her birthday and planned to go and have a long girly shopping day. One of my hotel vouchers is actually for a hotel in York where we catch the train from, it's roughly 40 mins to an hour from where I live, so I thought that we'd go and stay over the night before the train (that way we don't have to get up as early obvs) and make it a bit of an overnight trip too. So next week will actually be the first time I leave Reuben overnight for the first time evvvvvvvver and I'm SO NERVOUS. I hope he handles it okay, at least it will make me feel a bit better about leaving him for Krakow if he does. Hoping to get lots of snaps in London to use for blog content, so let's pray it's a nice day!
Starting a photography business.
Some of you may know that I already do photography, not only for my blog, but I sometimes get asked and paid to do product photography for brands websites. Well, I've wanted to delve into other areas of photography for some time now and I've finally taken the plunge! I'd love to build up to shooting weddings (I'd love some advice on this from anyone that does it, do you do it alone?) but for now I'm building up gradually by doing family and lifestyle shoots. I've no idea when I'll get my first job but I'm thinking about offering a free shoot to build my portfolio, I'm not sure yet. I've started a facebook page where I'm uploading some of my work for now, so if you'd go and support it by giving it a cheeky like, that would be fab! You can find the page here.
A few things on my ASOS wish list...
Have you got any exciting plans over the next few weeks?
