Find out why I love packing sunbites in my picnic basket!
Reuben and I love a cute family picnic - it's one of our favourite summer activities. This month, we have just moved into our new home and although we have the most gorgeous little garden, it's been raining almost everyday since we moved in! As it's the middle of August, this hasn't stopped us from enjoying our little picnic tradition, we just brought it inside the house instead! When packing our picnics, I always opt for some small & easy snacks, as well as a treat or two for good measure (in this case - an iced bun each!) I think it's really important to have that balance of little snacks as well as a treat to make it a bit more special. The reason I tend to go for smaller snacks is because our picnics always involve a lot of games, especially when we go out into the countryside - and chasing a toddler around for a few hours means that I don't want that horrible 'full' and bloated feeling, because that's no fun is it?! Sunbites have been a favourite snack of mine for a while now, I always pick up a pack or two when I do my weekly shop. They're on offer quite a lot too which is even better! Here's why I love them so much...
Sunbites
Sunbites are made up of three sun grown wholegrains to create a delicious crunchy grain wave range - hence the name! They take naturally grown grains, and they then turn the sun ripened ingredients into tasty bites of heaven. They're not only delicious, they're high in fibre, and make the perfect snack for any occasion - especially family picnics! They have a wide range of flavours, including honey glazed barbeque, lightly sea salted, cheddar & caramelised onion, sundried tomato & mozzarella and my personal two favourites; sun ripened sweet chilli and sour cream & cracked black pepper. They also have some new sharing bags which are perfect for a cosy movie night with the family or your gal pals!
Sunbites have been using 100% renewable energy since 2017, and have embraced zero waste to landfill in their production sites since 2009. Over the last 5 years they have reduced the water needed to make sunbites by 25% and have reduced the waste in their grain wave production process by 50%. If that's not another reason to love the brand, I don't know what is. Incredible.
Why I Love Them
It was my mum who originally got me into Sunbites, I remember her bringing some home and I was instantly eyeing them up wanting to try them out. I remember falling in love at first bite. Crisps are one of my favourite snacks, but they can be so moreish! As a massive foodie, I'm always looking for products that don't leave me feeling bloated as it's just the worst feeling and makes me want to sleep which isn't ideal with a little one around. I find as a single mum, constantly chasing a toddler around and working from home, I need a stream of snacks to keep me energised but that don't give me a fatigued, full feeling. For summer picnics, Sunbites just fit the bill perfectly as they're absolutely delicious yet so light and airy.
There's plenty of products in their range so you're sure to find something you love! You find out more over on their website - they even have a gorgeous little advert to watch which was created by their solar powered studio, capturing the sunlight to light the stage and power the animation - absolutely fascinating stuff!
