Making time for yourself can be such a hard thing to do, believe me, as someone who works full time and also parents completely solo – I know! I think it’s really important, as hard as it may be, to do some things for yourself every now and again. A hobby is the perfect way to do something for you, something which I personally find quite difficult as my hobby used to be blogging… and then it became my job. Over the last few years, I have however, gained a huge love for photography. So whilst it is pretty much still working, I love just going out for chilled walks in the country and talking my camera along with me to capture the moments. And Reuben of course! If you need to take more time out and you’re struggling to do so, here’s some hobby ideas that you could look into to give you some inspiration…
Horse Riding
If you have a love of animals (which lets face it, is the majority of the population) then how about looking into horse riding! I haven’t personally ever been horse riding but so many people rave about it and how freeing it feels. If you fancy even going as far as buying your own horse, Spillers have loads of great info, help & advice on taking care of them!
Reading
Taking a step back from quite an adventurous hobby, and going to something a little more chilled, which is reading! I honestly love getting all cosy with a good book, it’s such a lovely way to take a step back from day to day life. I don’t get the chance to do it nearly often enough being a single mum to a toddler, but when I do, I always enjoy getting lost in a good book.
Camping
Something a bit different, and not something that I’m personally a fan of, is camping. I’m throwing it in here because whilst I may personally not be a big fan – it’s a fab way to get away from home life and chill out. In summer, you can camp out under the stars, sounds like bliss right? I’d happily do it as long as it’s inside with an open roof and it’s glamping. I’m not a fan of the dark haha!
Travel
Of course, everyones dream is to holiday a few times a year, but travel can be a fab hobby too. Picking up cheap last minute flights, hunting down the best airbnb’s, and it’s possible. I’ve been away a few times this year already, one trip abroad and the rest within the UK, but they were all super affordable trips, just a few days each, and I got to explore loads of different cities. It was amazing to just get away from home for a few days, and of course you can blog about all the trips too. What could be a better hobby?!
DIY
Something a bit less relaxing, and more hands on, is taking on a DIY project. Whether this be at home or in your garden shed – whatever, it can be a great way to just escape the norm and do something different. A lot of people find building and painting so therapeutic too.
