A little December round-up...
Last year I did a blog post featuring a little collection of festive snaps and looking back over the month, so I thought I'd keep up the tradition and do it again this year. I always take loads of festive, cosy shots over the Christmas season and a lot of them only make it to instagram so I like to pop them on my blog by doing little round-ups like this! December was a super busy month for me work-wise so we didn't get on as many adventures as I would have liked, however we did make some fab memories so let's have a look back shall we?!
Exploring Prague...
We kicked the month off working with Jet2 and going on a Christmas market break to Prague. It was all planned with only a few weeks to spare so it was a little overwhelming but mostly exciting. I was so nervous about my first trip abroad with him and it was all for nothing because it went so smooth. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat, Ru was an absolute babe and we had the best time. I came home feeling so festive afterwards!
A Home Addition...
I've wanted a fireplace for the longest time, and as my house doesn't have one built in, I decided to think outside the box and install a faux one instead! I couldn't have achieved this without my dad but I'm so in love with how it turned out, definitely better than I ever imagined. Dressing it up for Christmas was basically my dream come true and it looked SO festive in my lounge with the tree and stockings up. I'm really upset that Christmas decor isn't an all year round thing because just look how cute!
Cosy Days...
As I had a lot of work throughout December, we spent a lot of cosy days at home which I felt a little guilty about but Ru's favourite thing to do when it's cold is stay in so there was no complaints from either of us! He hates going out in the cold and rain and prefers snuggling up on the sofa with his blanket, his toys and paw patrol. He loves going round to my parents house too, honestly, he nags me 13439x a day to go to "grandmas house" so we did a lot of that too! Lots and lots of cosy days snuggled up on the sofa with Netflix, movies and hot chocolates. An absolute essential in winter, right?!
Eco Wrapping...
I tried to be super eco this year with my wrapping, firstly because obviously it's better for the environment, but also because I think nothing beats traditional brown wrapping! I had a couple of rolls of paw patrol wrapping paper to use up from Ru's birthday so I mostly wrapped his stocking fillers in that as I wasn't bothering with pretty decoration just to stuff them in a stocking. For 80% of my wrapping I used the brown paper with an assortment of pretty ribbon and I also recycled a bouquet of flowers and used the green leafy bits from it to tuck under the bow. I threw a couple of candy canes in there too for good measure!
Treats Galore...
It wouldn't have been December without a zillion and one hot chocolates and all the treats. I well and truly indulged last month and I'm not ashamed to say I'm continuing that into January...Β new year resolutions of healthy eating and getting fit are not for me I'm afraid! I've decided I'm going to stop "trying" to force myself into working out when I hate it and I'm just going to enjoy my life. Of course I know it's all about a healthy balance and *being* healthy, so I'm going to try and incorporate more walks and things to be a bit more active alongside, but more hot chocolates for me please.
Some Time Off...
Just as we reached Christmas, I decided to take a few days off and it's honestly the first time I've done it all year... (minus still posting to instagram but I'd already taken the photos so technically that doesn't count) but it was actual bliss. It felt so nice just to have a few days not thinking about the next deadline, responding to emails or writing to-do lists for the week. It didn't last long as I ended up getting bored and wanting to get back to my camera over the weekend but still! Sometimes even a couple of days where the pressure is completely off makes the world of difference. Can we have Christmas again now?!
An Insta Takeover...
If you missed it, I did an instagram takeover in December over on World Duty Free's instagram and I absolutely love working with them and taking photos of their gorgeous products. Everything is so luxurious and festive snaps are by far my favourites to shoot. I shared lots of Christmas gift ideas on their channel, but if you're heading to the airport any time soon then definitely check out their instagram as you'll be surprised by how many bits they actually sell that you have no idea about!
A Cute End...
The month had a really cute, chilled end to it. Ru & I had a lovely Christmas, I didn't go mad on him gifts wise as he only just had a birthday a couple of months ago, so we opened his presents at home in the morning and then made our way to my parents for the rest of the day! We also slept over and spent Boxing Day there too which was really nice. We've been over to my grans a couple of times towards the end of the month too and now Ru keeps asking to go to "gate angma's" which is adorable! I took a Boxing Day trip to the sales and picked up a few bits, as well as made a couple of ASOS orders so I've got us both some nice new bits and bobs which is always nice. We also spent New Years with my parents and slept over again so we had lots of lovely family time which is what December is all about for me. And that's a wrap!
What did you get up to last month? Did you have a lovely, festive December?!
