Over the summer months, I'm a big fan of a lighter, dewy base. I used to get super oily skin but for the last year or so it's been way more on the drier side so a good skincare routine and moisturising products are a must. My skin is far from perfect but I hate clogging it with heavy products and I find that when I use lighter products and less of them, it's much more clear and healthy! When Laura Mercier sent me over some new makeup products to try (including one of my long time faves) I was so excited to try them out. Since wearing them for the first time, they've been my go-to base products since - I'm literally obsessed. I thought that I would share them with you all and show you some photos with the natural texture of my skin alongside. No blurring here boys and gals.Β
the product line up...
Pure Canvas Primer: Hydrating
Laura Mercier do numerous versions of their pure canvas primer, but the one that I've been using is the hydrating version. I'm so glad I received this one because as I mentioned above, my skin is really dry these days and I have to keep up with really hydrating products to stop my makeup applying cakey. I usually do my morning skincare routine as normal and then apply the primer straight afterwards or after my moisturiser has had some time to sink in whilst I drink my coffee! It's a gorgeous primer to use, very light and silky and sinks in faster than a serum. My skin feels gorgeous afterwards and it gives me the perfect base for my makeup!
Tinted Moisturiser
The tinted moisturiser is by far my new favourite base, not only does it have SPF 30 so it's perfect for protecting your skin during the summer months - but it's also so lightweight whilst giving really good coverage. I'm so picky when it comes to tinted moisturisers as I find a lot of them really do give a 'tint' and not in a good way! I have a lot of redness on my face and blemishes, particularly around my time of the month which seems to come round so quickly as it does - so I like to use a base that covers all of that up. However I hate using heavy products and caking my skin in makeup, so that's why I absolutely love this tinted moisturiser, it has the coverage whilst being so hydrating and it feels like I'm not even wearing it. I can see this being a summer staple for years to come.Β
Flawless Fusion Concealer
I swear by liquid concealers in my daily makeup routine, even when I want to go extremely minimal, a concealer is a must. I can't stand having eye bags or redness on show as it tends to make me look so tired and ill. Creamy concealers can be good too, but I think liquid formulas come out on top for me, as they're so easy to blend with a damp beauty blender and quite often don't even require foundation on top. I love the flawless fusion concealer because it's full coverage but doesn't feel like it is. With one swipe and a bit of blending it instantly hides any blemishes or redness and it never creases under my eyes. I love that it's such a hydrating concealer too and never settles into any dry patches leaving me looking caked. If you're after a new concealer, then this one comes with a high recommendation from me.
Loose Setting Powder
If you haven't heard of Laura Merciers loose setting powder then where have you been?! This one has been pretty famous in the beauty industry for a few years now and last year I finally realised why. It took me ages to try this out for the first time but once I had, I haven't looked back. In my extremely oily skin days it was a life saver, but even now that my skin is on the drier side, it's still a staple. It just sets my base perfectly and keeps it intact all day long which is a must during the hot & humid summer days. Not to mention being a mum and having a small human constantly push their head in your face or cup your face with their cute little mitts. How many times have you ended up with foundation on your kids clothes from those cuddly moments?! Well it rarely happens for me now when I set my makeup with this bad boy. Honestly give me a powder that beats it, I don't think there is one!
