I love my cosy little lounge, but as it's the room I spend the most time in, I like to make little changes often to keep things interesting! Like all of the rooms in my house, it will probably be forever unfinished and there will always be changes I want to make as we change seasons. I think we grow into our homes too, so as I've lived in mine for just over a year now, I've got to know it better and what works where. Anyway, without me waffling on any longer, I thought I'd share some of my current plans for switching things up a little...
a fresh gallery wall
As my tastes in home decor have changed, so have my tastes in prints. I absolutely love the gallery wall above, but I feel that I've outgrown it now. When I picked it, I went for something quite simple and safe and I'm into more artistic prints now, and mixing colour with black and white art. There is a little of that going on in the old gallery wall too, but more so with the new one that I've picked out. I wanted something with a bit more character to it too and a different shape. I'm glad that artwork is so easy to change up, and I feel like a fresh gallery wall is needed after my new sofa purchase!
swapping out the flooring
I've been wanting to swap out the flooring in my lounge for a while now, I love the floorboards but I'm not a massive fan of the colour variation of it. There's a mix of light and dark woods and it's just too much of a mix, plus I feel like it's quite dark for a small room. I really want to add a wood flooring that's warmer and lighter and just brightens up the lounge a bit more. Flooring365 do some lovely options that I've been browsing.
extra storage
My home is pretty small in general so I'm always looking to add more storage options, but without creating an ugly space. Keeping it looking pretty is reaaaally important to me (of course!) so I recently replaced my tv stand with a cute locker style cabinet that's been amazing storage wise. I plan to add another unit somewhere in the lounge too, or maybe some wall shelves that I can put cute baskets on for miscellaneous bits and bobs. Now that I'm trying to conceive, storage is even more important as I'll hopefully need lots of baby bits eventually!
ditching the curtains
I'm definitely ditching the curtains in the lounge eventually, whilst I do like them I just find them so inconvenient and "bulky" so I want to completely get rid of them in favour of a blind. I'd love shutters ideally but they can be pricey so I'm not sure what I'll go with yet, but I think whatever I opt for will look so much cuter than the curtains that are there now.
downsizing the coffee table
I actually already swapped out my big rectangle coffee table for a smaller, circular one but I'm thinking of downsizing again to save some more space. Fun story, the current coffee table I have is actually far bigger than I thought it was going to be, I thought it was the size of a little side table! It's worked out beautifully as I love it and I fill it with so many things like books, candles and all of our snacks on an evening so I'm not convinced I'll part with it just yet. I would like a smaller one just to have more space on the rug though. Mostly for Rus benefit.
