It can be pretty sad at Christmas time when you want to celebrate with your nearest and dearest – but they actually aren’t as near as you would like. Far away family members are unlikely to make it over this year (2020 – what more is there to say?), for a myriad of reasons. If you still want to treat them to a little gift this year, then here are some ideas for far away family members that could be perfect:
A Good Book
You could send a good book straight to their house, skipping the need to order it to your own house, wrap it, and send it off again. Books are amazing gifts because they are in almost everyone’s budget, easy to send, and a great way to escape into another world. If there’s a reader in your far away family, send them a book that has meant a lot to you.
Flowers and Plants
Flowers and plants are another great gift. It’s so easy to send flowers to your chosen address online, and they are bound to make the recipient smile. A plant can last a lot longer than flowers, but if the recipient is not green fingers, then flowers may be the better option.
A Donation In Their Name
Maybe you have an activist or a philanthropist in your family. How about making a donation in their name, or adopting an animal of some kind for them? They’ll feel like they’ve done a good deed and they’ll get updates on the animal they have adopted. This could be great if somebody loves whales, or another endangered species.
A Custom Made Bobblehead
Bobbleheads are fun and quirky dolls that make a lovely gift for every occasion. Whether your daughter is graduating or you’re getting married, a custom bobblehead is a great way to mark the momentous occasion. Lucky Bobbleheads specializes in sculpting custom bobbleheads. We make bobbleheads for various themes, including weddings, graduation, birthdays, promotions, sports, anniversaries, and so on.
A Family Print or Photograph
How about a family print or photograph in a frame to remind your far away family of the better times together? You could even get creative and gift a painted picture of you all together, or a sketch. You could see if there’s a local artist who would be happy to do something for you.
A Connected Lamp
A connected lamp is a great home accessory, and allows two family members or more to let one another know that they are thinking of each other. It’s a simple but effective way to say ‘thinking of you’, and can make you smile any time of day without even having to send a text message.
A Travel Ticket
If it has been a while since you’ve seen each other, perhaps a travel ticket to see them or bring them to you could work. Maybe you could even plan a trip to meet in the middle and pay for their share of the fare. Of course you might need to wait until mid-next year for this to be viable, but it could be a lovely idea.
