There are many different factors that affect our sleep, from how much natural light weβre taking in during the day, to the amount of caffeine weβre consuming– but one of the most important determining factors for our sleep quality has to be our bedrooms.

Noise, light and heat can all significantly impact on our sleep, so you should exercise control over these factors wherever you can. Here are 4 ways you can optimise your bedroom for a better nightβs sleep:
1. Keep It Dark
Light is one of the number one causes for effecting our sleep, especially during the summer months when the sun rises early in the mornings. Our bodyβs internal body clock relies heavily on bright, natural daylight- so if your bedroom easily lets in the morning light, then thereβs a chance of you waking earlier than you would like.
To counteract this, it may be worth investing in some blackout blinds or an eye mask to block out the light. Electronic screens and any kind of digital item that emits a light can also cause sleep disruption, so make sure you keep them out of your room during the night, and limit use before bed time.
2. Make Sure Your Bed Is Comfortable

Whether youβre experiencing noise from other people in your household or sounds from your street, it can be impossible to sleep when your brain is constantly being stimulated with noise. Anything from the sound of your partnerβs snoring to drilling coming from roadworks is enough to keep you tossing and turning- and will probably drive you crazy in the process.
