happy new year!
Hello 2023, you came around quickly didn't you?! I'm super excited and looking forward to what this year is going to bring for me and my boys. I thought that I would share some of my goals and aims for the new year as well as look back on the ones that I set this time last year.
last years goals...
I like to set small, achievable goals and I think I did really well with my goals for 2022. I wanted to reduce my clothing purchases, which I definitely did. I had quite a few wardrobe clear outs and bought very few new pieces, and when I did purchase something new, I always made sure that it was a staple and part of the capsule wardrobe that I'm building.
I wanted to enjoy more adventures which admittedly, has been quite tricky with a new baby - but we did manage a five day road trip to France back in September and it was so, so lovely! I mentioned I'd like to explore the French countryside and that is exactly what we did. I'm yet to share my photos from that trip as I never seem to get around to blogging these days, but I definitely will at some point.
I wanted to get back into photography which I feel I did a little, I have so many lovely portraits of Ru and Luca which is exactly what I hoped for. I can't wait to take lots more throughout 2023. And the last goal I had was to finish the garden, which I'm happy to say we did! However, it's now being neglected due to me moving out this year (although gardens do get neglected over winter anyways) so it feels like a bit of a waste of time and money, but we did enjoy it over the Summer, so that's what counts.
some new goals for 2023...
Make our new house feel like home. If there's one thing I really, really hate... it's moving house. It's such a long and stressful process and it takes me a long time to really feel like I'm at home somewhere. I'm moving in with my partner Jake in July and I'm so looking forward to it and to all of the renovation plans we have, but I'm not looking forward to leaving my cosy little house and having to restart that process all over again. So my first goal this year is to work hard to turn Jakes house into a house that feels like home. He's never done anything in his house in terms of decorating, so he's leaving it all to me and I'm excited for what we have planned!
Start blogging regularly again. I have really gotten out of blogging regularly, it's quite hard with a new baby to be fair, but hopefully as he gets older we can get into more of a routine and this can be the year that I finally get back into publishing posts regularly. I really enjoy reading blogs, as well as being able to write about my life and much more detailed posts in comparison to short and quick social media posts. I'd like to get back into sharing my favourite products and places to go, so watch this space.
Find a groove with my content. Over the past year, I've really not known where I want to be with my content. I hope that I manage to figure it out this year and get into a better groove with it. It makes content creating so hard when I'm feeling a bit lost with it all. I do think it's probably mostly down to me going from being heavily pregnant and having no energy, to being in a newborn bubble, and then to trying to figure out life as a mum of two. Luca is 6 months old now so fingers crossed I can get past that blurry, whirlwind new baby stage and start to feel a bit more settled with my work life balance.
Take the children on some more road trips. We all love a road trip and I'd love to go on some more this year with the boys. I already know this one will get ticked off because we have already arranged a camping trip to Wales in May, and a holiday to the South of France towards the end of the year. Both trips involve all four children which includes Jakes two, and we usually find that tricky as they are with their mum most of the time, so I'm really looking forward to some holidays as a family of six!
Have you set any goals for the new year?
