Sharing my fitness essentials…
I’ve recently started taking my fitness a bit more seriously and started doing regular home workouts with a PT. I’ve been wanting to feel better about my body for a while, as well as just get in better shape in general, so when Gabby reached out to work together it really couldn’t have come at a better time! I already had some fitness equipment and accessories, but I’ve added a few more bits to my stash since signing up with Gabby, so I thought I’d share my essentials, old and new.
Clothes
I think clothing is a really important part of a good fitness routine, I’ve tried working out in clothes I already owned and whilst that may work for some people, it really didn’t work for me. I wear gym leggings as part of my everyday school run outfit in the week, so I can usually work out in these absolutely fine. However, I do find that I get very sweaty and hot quickly so I knew that I needed a good sports bra and shorts. I picked up this sports bra and matching shorts from adidas which I absolutely love, they’re super comfortable and great for working out in, and I love that it’s pink and goes with my pink trainers! Aesthetic plus practicality is something I’m all for. There’s also some great adidas womens tracksuits that are good for outdoor runs and for the colder weather which I think I’ll invest in nearer to the Autumn months.
Trainers
Working out at home in bare feet is such a no-go for me, I’ve been there and done it and I just found that I wasn’t doing the workouts very effectively and it would often give me sore feet. Investing in a decent pair of trainers that are soft and comfortable to wear was one of the best things I did in terms of fitness. I found it gave me much more motivation to get through a workout too, as feeling uncomfortable didn’t spur me on to get through a workout. They’re really important if you’re doing cardio and landing on your feet a bit too, as they protect you from damaging anything and getting hurt. There’s a great range of womens running trainers available at adidas, and I picked up the Duramo RC trainers which are lovely to wear and perfect for working out in, it feels like bouncing on clouds when wearing them!
Equipment
Equipment wise, I wanted to ease myself into fitness gradually so I just picked up some basics. I got a lovely pink yoga mat, a set of 2kg & 3kg dumbbells, and a step box. I’ve been using all of these so far so they make a great ‘starters kit’ if you like. It’s surprising how much you can do from home without any real gym equipment. In a perfect world, I’d love my own home gym, but we just don’t have the space. I think my sisters going to have a home gym in her new house so I’ll have to see if she’ll share…
