The best beauty finds of 2017…
I think this is my favourite kind of blog post ever. I get to look back on all the beauty finds I discovered throughout the year and pick out my favourites – however hard that may be! I had to really narrow this one down, as even though I was quite good with my spending this year, I still discovered so many amazing new goodies! These picks are not necessarily products that came out this year, they’re just the bits that I personally discovered and bought or got gifted. I get sent new things to try all of the time, or I see something being reviewed and fancy trying it out for myself, even if its already been out for a few years. There’s so many products in the beauty world that sometimes I don’t even try something out until it’s been on the shelves for a year or two! SO, without further ado, here are my best beauty finds throughout 2017.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette // This palette was out for quite some time before I decided that I needed it in my life. Everyone went crazy over it when it came out but for some reason it just didn’t appeal to me? When I was having a little splurge, I wasn’t sure what to treat myself to and I came across this palette and all of a sudden fell in love with it and I just had to have it. I’m so glad I bought it because it is now one of my most loved eyeshadow palettes of all time, the shades are just perfectly suited to my skin tone and I can’t get enough! If you’re debating buying this one then I definitely recommend it, it’s such a unique little number.
NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint // If you’ve read my blog for a while, then you may know that the Estee Lauder Double Wear was my holy grail foundation for a long time. Since having Reuben, my skin seems to have got drier and drier, yet is still oily in the t-zone area which makes foundation purchases very difficult. The EL DW used to keep my face matte all day and was the only long-lasting foundation for me, but now it’s a bit too heavy for my dry skin and tends to crack in areas which isn’t the best look. I do like to reach for this from time to time when my skin is feeling a bit more hydrated, but now my holy grail foundation HAS to be the NARS Velvet Matte – it’s amazing! For a skin tint, it has the best coverage and covers up every little blemish and bit of redness on my face. Not only that, but it isn’t overly matte that it clings to my dry patches, yet it keeps my oiliness at bay all day long. I am obsessed with this stuff and I need to repurchase it ASAP as mine is running low from so much use!
Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow // If you’ve read my blog recently then you’ll know I’m newly obsessed with the CT Wonderglow Primer, it’s just incredible. It makes my skin look flawless, glowy and just so fresh. I can’t be without it now and it’s so worth the price tag. I’m still on a miniature but I’m 100% buying the full size when it’s used up.
NARS Man Ray Overexposed Glow Highlight // This is something I treated myself to last month and I wear it almost every time I do my makeup. It’s honestly the glowiest, most gorgeous highlight and it compliments my skin tone so well. I won’t say much more as I did a full review on it recently, if you’d like to read it you can see it here.
Clinique Moisture Surge // Another gem that I talk about 24/7 is the Clinique Moisture Surge. This has absolutely saved my dry skin this year and it’s just incredible. It’s definitely a must have moisturiser during the winter months and totally worth the hype. Even though it’s on the pricer end for a moisturiser, you hardly need to use any to get an amazing result so it’s completely and utterly worth every penny!
NARS Unfiltered II Cheek Palette // I remember when I first got this palette and I couldn’t put it down for weeks. It was love at first sight (before I even bought it!) I still reach for it now, but I definitely think it’s more of a Spring/Summer palette for me. I cannot wait to use this non-stop when the weather gets warmer, the shades are just absolutely perfect for Spring.
By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Frozen Quartz // Something I bought on a wim was the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in the shade Frozen Quartz. I reach for this whenever I want my eyes to look pretty, but I don’t want to put too much effort into it. It’s the most gorgeous sparkly pink shade when worn and it lasts all day without creasing, I need to repurchase this as mine is running low and I’m so tempted to pick up some more shades too!
Lush Cup o’ Coffee Mask // Another recent addition to my collection is the Cup o’ Coffee Face & Body Mask from Lush. I know that people rave about this all the time and I’m totally late to the party but I just can’t seem to put it down now. It smells absolutely heavenly and it leaves my skin feeling so fresh and revived, which is a god send during the winter months. I’m definitely overusing this as it’s quite a heavy scrub but I just can’t help myself.
Charlotte Tilbury Vintage Vamp Palette // I still can’t believe this is my first Charlotte Tilbury Quad – it definitely won’t be my last. When I got this in the feelunique gift set I was over the moon to say the least, it’s now one of my all time favourite palettes. I’ve worn it non-stop over the Christmas period as it’s just absolutely perfect for a beautiful, sparkly festive look. So in love with this one.
Glossier Boy Brow // Glossier is a brand that finally came to the UK this year (all hail the gods!) and I am addicted, just like everyone else. The Boy Brow wasn’t actually in my first order but after seeing everyone raving it about it, I placed a second and had to try it out. I’m officially hooked to this bad boy and I use it in my makeup routine everyday! It keeps my hairs in place all day whilst also tinting them with colour, it’s perfect on it’s own or combined with a pomade/pencil.
Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder // The Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder is something that Jodie introduced me to. After hearing her rave about it, I was convinced that I needed it in my life and I was right! I can now truly say that this is my holy grail contour product, it’s absolutely perfect. I used to have the shade Light which worked wonders on my pale skin tone, but since I hit the pan and now fake tan, I’ve recently invested in the Medium shade and it’s even better. Both shades sculpt my cheeks perfectly and I can honestly say it’s worth the price tag.
NYX Ombre Blush in Mauve Me // I actually bought this blush just because I liked the look of the ombre effect but since mine is now well-used and not very photogenic, it’s safe to say I love it for how it looks on my face. I think this is my most used blush during 2017, as I just find the colour compliments my skin tone perfectly and I’m obsessed!
Maybelline Lash Sensational // Lash Sensational is a product that everyone and their dog talks about, but boy is it the best mascara I have ever used! I can’t believe my holy grail mascara is actually a drugstore product – but it is. I do occasionally use other mascaras but 99% of the time I finish off with this one, and 80% of the time I use it on it’s own. It’s incredible. It gives me length, volume, definition, a curl that stays all day… what more could you want from a mascara?
YSL Black Opium // My fragrance collection has grown rapidly this year, but my favourite overall has to be the YSL Black Opium without a doubt. I love the floral one too, but the original is just so bloody gorge. It lingers on my clothes for days and the sweetness & coffee undertones are just so perfectly suited to me. I’m a bit shit at describing scents but I highly recommend you try this one out if you haven’t already.
Revitalash // Another product that I will probably never have a negative thing to say about, is Revitalash. It has just honestly, changed my life. I’m not joking. I had non-existent lashes for absolutely years before I finally decided to invest in this stuff and now I actually look feminine. With eyelashes. It’s crazy! I know people are so sceptical and are hesitant due to the price tag, but you are getting what you pay for, I promise.
Charlotte Tilbury Rock n’ Kohl Eye Pencil // And last but not least, is another very new addition to my beauty collection – and that’s the Rock n’ Kohl Eye Pencil from Charlotte Tilbs. What an absolute gem this one is, an eye pencil that lasts on my eyes all day long – what is this wizardry? I’ve never used an eye pencil even as close to being as good as this one, there’s no going back now!
