Versatile pieces in the home are a must-have if you chop and change your mind a lot and mix things up often due to boredom. I think it's healthy to change your home decor a little every now and again because at the end of the day you're staring at the same 4 walls day in day out and you're inevitably going to want to look at something new sometimes. Maybe you're not - but you probably wouldn't be here if that was the case. I personally love adding pieces to my home that I know are going to last me many years to come as they're so versatile, so I thought that I'd share some of my faves!
fireplaces
Real or faux, a fireplace is such a good addition to a lounge, or even a bedroom. I think it's one of the best features in a home to adapt to different styles. They can look vintage, they can look modern, they can give off farmhouse vibes... they can be painted in any colours and decorated however. If you don't have a fireplace in your house, you can just buy a mantle and plonk it anywhere you like. Or build a faux fireplace like I did last year, there's always a way.
wood flooring
Not necessarily a 'piece' as such but wood flooring is a must-have for a home in my opinion, it's just so versatile and goes with literally every single interior style that you can think of. It not only looks good and makes it's own statement, but it also just blends well with every piece of furniture there is. Ordinary wood flooring is great but I also think parquet flooring works pretty well too and adds a bit more of a statement. Flooring365 do some gorgeous options. I don't think I'll ever go back to carpets now!
grey sofas
I've had a grey sofa ever since I've owned a sofa and I'm only on my second one. I say only... that's a good thing, they should last a while - however, even on my second sofa purchase I stuck with grey because I think it's the perfect sofa shade for being able to be extremely versatile and fit in with different colour schemes, interior styles, you name it. I've completely switched up the colour scheme in my lounge lately and it still fits in just as perfectly as before. I can't see myself ever opting for a bold colour sofa as I think grey ones just work so well.
wooden coffee tables
Similar to wooden floors, wooden tables tend to also fit in with most interior styles too. I picked a coffee table in particular for this one as I have never seen an image of a lounge that didn't suit a wooden table in it. It goes for side or coffee tables to be honest, and of course it's so easy to mix up the decor on them too. My last and current coffee tables are both wooden, but the one I have currently has a grey painted tabletop which still works really well.
There's so many other versatile pieces you can add to a home, but they would probably be my top picks. Do you like furniture that you can change up often?
