This year, I decided to do up the house for halloween. I've never done it before, but I'd seen loads of inspo on Pinterest, particularly for the fireplace and I just fancied doing it up for some fun and of course Ru is absolutely thrilled. He was only just three last halloween and there's such a big difference between him then and now, he gets really excited about things whereas before he wasn't that interested! I had so much fun decorating whilst he was in preschool and he was running around so excited when he came home to it all - the cutest! Anyway, I've had so many questions on insta about where things are from, that I thought I'd share a blog post with all the details and photos so you can get some inspo if you're looking for some...
The fireplace was the main area that I wanted to decorate, it's just the perfect halloween vibe isn't it? A spooky fireplace covered in cobwebs... I didn't have this last year as I only got it in December time so I'm loving being able to dress it up for the seasons. It's nice to change things up too. I swapped out all my gold candles and accessories in favour of some black ones. Added lots of cobwebs and pumpkins, and a little witchy bunting and bobs your uncle. Really easy to do but looks so good. I got my cobwebs from Amazon, I got 5 webs each with a couple of spiders on and then a big pack of spiders along with it for just short of £6. Really good deal. I didn't use the bigger spiders as they all look super realistic so a couple was enough for me...
Some of my pumpkins are real, but the faux decorated ones (paint samples and a tiny pot of gold paint for the stalks!) were just foam pumpkins I found on Amazon. The original ones are sold out so I've linked similar here. You can pick up little squash in aldi for around 75p each which I love doing, plus you can cook them afterwards!
I got some other halloween decs in Homesense a few weeks ago but they've swapped it all out for Christmas stuff already annoyingly... and last but not least the witchy bunting was an Etsy find for about £5, such a barg! I also found a pumpkin one that I've got in my bedroom.
It was a bit of a spontaneous decision to decorate the hallway, I thought the 3D bats that I bought would look fab going up the stairs and I had left over cobwebs to use so I put one on the hallway mirror. I already had some pumpkins out there so why not! My 3D bats were another amazon find and they come flat in all different sizes with grooves in to bend the wings, and little double sided sticky tape to stick them on the walls with. Ru is obsessed with them bless him. They were only £3.99 too and I got loads.
I also got a couple of cute decorations from Wilko for like £1 each I believe?! I put a pumpkin garland in the kitchen and then a bat one on the locker unit below the TV. I was inspired by Pinterest for this one and put up a 'Boo' balloon on the wall just using cellotape, link to that is here, it's from Amazon again and was only £3! Also hung some webs on the tv, although just for show as we can't watch anything with them in the way... 😉 and that's all I've done!
Do you like decorating for Halloween? I'm already looking forward to switching it all up for Christmas...
