Tips To Help Improve Your Indoor Photography During A Pandemic.

January 15, 2021May 19, 2026 Tech

How to improve your indoor photography:

Being stuck indoors can be restrictive for a lot of people creatively, especially bloggers and photographers. When they rely on shooting content outside with others or in places around the world perhaps, it’s a lot more difficult nowadays than normally. With that being said, we’re seeing more and more people begin to adapt to their new surroundings. Here are some tips to help improve your indoor photography during a pandemic.

Time To Invest

Firstly, it’s time to invest in your photography accessories. The thing is, any camera you use, whether it be on your phone or a compact camera to a DSLR, are all things that work well. However, when you add lighting, it makes things ten times better. So even a smartphone’s camera lens can be heightened with the use of light. When it comes to working indoors, you only have so much natural light to play around with before it gets dark. You may also have a work lifestyle where you’re doing a lot of work throughout the day and perhaps don’t have time to shoot some photos before it gets dark. With that said, it’s worth investing in some artificial lighting.

There are tons of soft lightboxes and ring lights available via Amazon that are great to use when taking photographs. Whether it be for your blog or for a client, this artificial lighting can really make a difference.

Utilise Natural Daylight

Natural daylight is quite possibly the best addition to your photos and it will certainly make most of them when it comes to the post-edit. What you want is to utilize as much of the daytime as possible when taking photographs. If you can prioritize your time in the right manner or simply be organized as to when you take photos, you can really make the most of those days where you’ve got some lovely weather conditions that make it perfect for shooting indoors.

Improve your photography by finding those spots within your home where you have plenty of sunshine and light to work with.

Explore Your Camera’s Functions In More Detail

The problem with a lot of people when it comes to taking photos is that they don’t explore the whole scope of their camera or phone. Instead, they just take the photo in one of two modes and with a couple of different photo editing techniques. What you want to do is explore everything on your phone and camera in the way of functions. Whether it’s the long exposure on iphone or looking at the manual mode of your camera.

Buy Some Affordable Backdrops & Props Online

And finally, when taking photos, the backdrop of your imagery might not be looking so clean or stylized. The same goes for the props in photographs, as they can really help bring a product or feature to life. Buy some affordable backdrops and props online where you can. It’ll make all the difference.

Improving your indoor photography during a pandemic is a challenge but a fun one.
