This is the first end of the year beauty post I’ve done because I’ve only had my blog for 10 months but I plan to hopefully do these at the end of every year as it’s such a good way of looking back and seeing a roundup of your most used beauty products each year! Since starting this blog back in February, I’ve discovered so many new makeup products that I probably would never have bought myself, but I’m so glad I did. A couple of things are very recent additions to my makeup collection, but things that I’m still including because they were still added during 2015 and are things that I know I’ll love for a long time to come. I could have added a lot more but I didn’t want the post to be too long and I can always save other bits for a monthly favourites post, so these are just the bits that have been my most used products lately and my favourite beauty finds during the year 2015!
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
As much as I loved completing my Mac Eyeshadow Palette this year, this has been a palette that’s been on my wish list for so long and I just never felt the need to purchase it. I decided to finally treat myself to it and just bought it before I could change my mind and I’m honestly so glad I did! Not only does it smell like chocolate, which is like the best thing ever if you’re a chocolate lover like me, but the eyeshadows are so pigmented and buttery. Basically if your favourite two things are eyeshadow and chocolate, then this palette is a dream come true. I wish I had bought this a long time ago, but I am going to favourite it foreverrrrr.
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
I recently replaced my beloved Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow palette for this bronzer, and I have to say I’m really glad I did. I use my bronzers to contour and as much as I want to love the CT Bronze & Glow, it’s too warm toned to contour for a pale girl like me. This one is still a little warm toned, but I find it works a lot better. I opted for the Chocolate bronzer rather than the Milk Chocolate because that one was too light to be a contour shade. I’ve been using this bronzer as well as wearing the Chocolate Bar Palette daily so it’s safe to say my face has basically smelt like chocolate 24/7! π
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
I still find it hard to believe that I wasn’t sold on this when I first bought it, it’s now my holy grail foundation and I rarely use anything else. It’s the only foundation I’ve ever used that keeps me matte all day long and gives me so much coverage that my skin goes from looking spotty and blotchy to completely flawless. I couldn’t be without it, I just hate the Β£30 price tag because I use it so much! I really should look for a drugstore dupe for daily wear, but I can’t seem to find one that keeps me matte all day so it’s a tricky one.
Mac Lipstick: Kinda Sexy
I used to favourite Velvet Teddy as my go to nude, but since buying Kinda Sexy, it’s definitely been replaced! Kinda Sexy is more of a pink toned nude than a purple one like Velvet Teddy, and I just think it compliments my skin a lot better. I’ve been wearing it so much that I’ve barely worn anything else, I just looooove it.
Mac Loose Pigment: Vanilla
If you read all of my eye makeup posts, you’re probably aware that I never go without this pigment. It gives the most beautiful glow in the inner corners of the eyes and I just can’t do my eye makeup without including it, it really brings the whole look together. If you want a highlight that will really give that ‘pop’ then this is the one!
Benefit Roller Lash
I’ve been after a high end mascara for a while but I can never bring myself to splurge on one when there’s so many good drugstore mascaras for a quarter of the price. But I got given Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara for Christmas and finally got to try out a high end mascara and I love it. The only thing I have to say about this is that it leaves black marks under my bottom lash line throughout the day for some reason, but I have no problems with my top lashes and I think I’ll just have to use a different mascara for my bottom ones. It’s got such a nice wand and really separates my lashes as well as giving them a lot of length, which is perfect for my short stumpy lashes!
The Balm Mary Lou Manizer
This product is definitely a highlight of my 2015, no pun intended π I’ve always wanted that ‘glow’ that some makeup artists achieve and this highlighter was the answer. I use it all of the time to highlight my cheek bones and nose, and sometimes under my brow bone too, it gives such a gorgeous glow.
Valentino Donna Eau de Parfum
I love love love this perfume so much, it’s pricey but worth it. I can still smell it on my jumpers the next day, it’s such a feminine scent that’s really musky with a hint of fruitiness. I blame Elle magazine for my obsession with it that lead to its purchase, but it was totally a good call.
Essie Polish: It’s Genius
I’ve never been a fan of metallic nail polishes and always stuck to mattes, but I saw this the other day and felt it was such a perfect shade for Christmas that I had to have it. I’m now obsessed with it and will probably end up wearing it for weeks to come, I think it’s also changed my mind completely about metallic shades, I need more! If you want to see what this looks like, there’s a picture on my instagram of me wearing it π
Zoella Beauty Wonder Hand Cream
My little sister bought me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. I’ve never really been a fan of Zoella’s products after buying her Tutti Fruity perfume and it not smelling fruity whatsoever… but I really love this hand cream. It smells gorgeous and is really moisturising without being greasy, definitely a must buy for hand cream lovers! Also the packaging is so so pretty, so even just buy it for that π
Lush American Cream Hair Conditioner
I wanted a good conditioner because my hair is quite damaged and dry, and I saw this one in Lush and decided to pick it up. It’s not amazing at making your hair soft but it does an okay job, I just love it because of how nice it makes my hair smell. It’s a strawberries & cream milkshake scent and it’s just so dreamy that it makes you want to smell your hair all day long.
So those are my top beauty favourites of 2015, I can’t wait to see what my next years finds are! Any products in particular that stood out for you this year? Let me know!
