I’ve never been one to be big on skincare, I don’t spend a fortune on it and I don’t really tend to try out new things very often. A good cleanser to clean off my makeup, makeup wipes and a moisturiser is about as good as it gets. But recently Beauty Bay sent me a box of their favourite skincare products for me to try out and I’m loving using them daily and the results have been fab. My skin has never felt so good! It’s definitely got me more into skincare products which is great as I’m in my 20s now and I should probably be looking after my skin a lot better than I am. Here’s what I’ve been using:
Original & Mineral Seven Day Miracle Moisture Masque | £28.00
Technically this is haircare and not skincare but this was included in my box of skincare goodies and I’ve been using it a lot, so I had to include it. At first I thought it was a facial product but this is actually a hair treatment for dry & damaged hair which I really wanted to try out as mine is fairly dry due to dying it a lot. The first thing I noticed about this masque was the scent – oh my god, it’s to die for. If you like sweet scents then this will be like heaven, it smells like white chocolate and I’m in love. I suffer with quite frizzy hair and since using this every other day, I’ve noticed that my hair is a lot more under control. For silkier hair that also smells gorgeous then I really recommend this!
Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm | £46.00
I’ve been using this cleansing balm after wearing makeup and it does an okay job, it’s not the best cleanser I have used as I prefer ones that foam up but it does get rid of my makeup quite well. It has a very strong scent, I’m not quite sure what it is but it’s not very sweet so it’s not really my cup of tea. It’s not horrible by any means, just probably more up your street if you like strong floral based scents. The balm claims to remove even the most stubborn waterproof makeup, however I don’t use any waterproof makeup so I don’t know if it lives up to the claims but it does remove all of my makeup and eye makeup well! I don’t have any other cleansers at the moment so I have been using this a lot and will continue to do so – who knows, maybe I’ll warm to it a little more.
Body Blendz Coffee Scrub | £19.95
This is the first coffee scrub that I’ve tried and it’s definitely not for you if you don’t like the smell of coffee lets just put it that way. I’ve been using this on my face and it is a little harsh for the face but my skin feels amazing afterwards, it’s so soft! I also used it on my legs and it made them feel silky smooth which is always a nice feeling when you want to pamper yourself a bit. It claims to help clear up acne and remove irritation and redness. My skin is completely clear at the moment, it has been for a while since I’ve been wearing makeup a lot less, but I have noticed a decrease in the redness around my nose so it could be down to using this scrub. You get 200g which is a lot and this is guaranteed to last you a while if you don’t use silly amounts, so it’s really worth the price tag.
Cellex-C Hydra 5 B Complex | £44.00
I had no idea what this was at first look but it’s a clear gel that acts as a natural moisturiser and gives the skin a silky smooth texture making the perfect base for makeup. It says it gives smoother skin within 3-6 weeks and I haven’t been using it for that long but I already have much smoother skin after using it for only a few days. This isn’t a replacement for a moisturiser as you still have to use one after applying this but it works wonders for creating a flawless base for makeup, my face is always so silky. I’m going to continue using this on a daily basis and see if I get even better results after using it for a few weeks.
Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream | £29.75
The Antipodes Nourishing Night Cream is easily my most favourite new skincare product. It smells really lovely and I have been using this every night after cleansing my face to moisturise with. I’ve been applying this straight after using the Hydra 5 B Complex gel and I’ve had the smoothest, silkiest looking skin afterwards. I’ve suffered with quite dry skin since becoming pregnant and I don’t really have any dryness anymore after using these products together, my skin finally looks & feels dewy again!
I’ve really enjoyed trying out all these new bits, let me know if you like skincare posts as I don’t do them often and I will make sure I start posting them more frequently 🙂
