You know how much I love a bronze eye!
If you're a regular around here then you might just know how obsessed I am with bronze tones. I love how much they compliment my eye, how easy they are to wear on a day to day basis and how well they compliment my skin tone. What can I say? Bronze just does it for me. Today I'm sharing my current three go-to bronze eyeshadows (technically I have four but I'm trying not to include the limited edition number that I always talk about in this particular post) that I mix up week to week. You can also see my #1 fave in action! So. If you fancy it, keep reading...
Natasha Denona Camel Palette.
First up we have to talk about my faveeee - the Camel Palette from Natasha Denona. It's the dream. I first spotted this on Cult Beauty when they released the brand and it was love at first sight. I was actually looking for the perfect everyday bronze based palette last year and came across a little trio from the balm that I still love - but just find it a bit darker than I'd like. This number however, is literally almost perfect. The reason I say almost is just because I do love using a matte white shade under my brow bone and I tend to have to reach for other palettes just to use it, but apart from that it is perfect. There are five shades in total, so it's quite a pricey one at £41 but I personally think it's well worth it, the quality of the eyeshadows is just gorgeous, they are so creamy and pigmented. The matte shades swatch a little chalky on your arm but when actually applying them to your lids with a brush, they aren't like that at all. They are that pigmented that I have to either lightly tap my brush in the pan or tap quite a bit of product off my brush before I even touch my eyes - so that tells you a lot about the pigmentation doesn't it! It's so hard to find good quality matte shades in a palette too.
I just think that this five pan palette has everything you need in an everyday palette. I have become quite partial to a white matte eyeshadow underneath my brow bone for some reason, but I used to always use my highlight or a shimmer like the one that comes in this palette - so in reality I can live without it. I most likely will when travelling as there's no point lugging two palettes along on my travels! I love that there's only one lid shade, which is a beautiful bronze glitter, and three mattes. You can create an everyday matte look, add a bit of glitter (like I do) for something a bit more put together, or you can create a full blown smokey look. You could even use the highlight shade all over your lid too, to be honest. I probably wouldn't as I don't think I suit lighter shades on my eyes but I'm sure it would work well for other gals. I honestly couldn't recommend this palette more if you just want a go-to that you can stick in your makeup bag permanently. I've not come across anything as beautiful as this one before! You can see the gem (haha lol, the palette not me) in action below.
By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Bronze Moon.
One of my all time favourite shadow sticks is the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Frozen Quartz and for the longest time I've been lusting after another shade. The formula of these shadow sticks glides on like a dream, blends with ease and stays put all day long. A few weeks back I was searching for a dupe or something similar to the Bobbi Brown Sparkle Stick in Molten Bronze (the one I was trying not to mention in this post as it's lim edition...) and I came across this little number that looked similar! This one is the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Bronze Moon and it's a bit cooler in tone and not quite as sparkly, but it does the job. It really is quite similar I'll give it that! It looks really cool toned when swatched on my arm below, but actually blended out all over the lid it looks nowhere near as cool toned and it's just a lovely bronze sparkle. I really recommend the by terry shadow sticks if you love a 'one swipe' kinda shadow for a quick everyday look that leaves you looking like you've put a whole lot more effort in, they're fab!
Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Amber Haze.
A third little bronzey number that I've been loving lately is the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in the shade Amber Haze. I got this in the CT Beauty Universe over Christmas and it was my first shadow stick from Tilbs, but I can honestly say it's won me over. Aside from the beautiful packaging that comes with every CT purchase, it's another eyeshadow stick formula that's just so creamy and dreamy. Yes I rhymed on purpose. I do find this dries a lot quicker than my other shadow sticks so I tend to have to blend it quite quickly and only do one lid at a time - but I can cope with that! If anything it's actually quite handy for certain kinds of days, for example, it's fab for those mornings when you're running a bit late or you can't be bothered spending ages on your makeup. You really don't have to worry about waiting around and letting this one set so it doesn't transfer everywhere. It doesn't smudge or crease or any of that jazz, it's amazing. I definitely need more shades asap.
So those are my top three bronze picks at the mo, I think the camel palette is my fave just because I've been using it the most... but really I love them all equally as they all have their uses depending on what I feel like on a morning. You can find some swatches below too if you fancy seeing them all against my skin tone!
