Your home’s tap water is the best source of water you have available. It might not be free, but it’s typically pretty good value. When it comes to drinking water, you can spend a lot less on drinking the water from your tap compared to buying bottled water all the time. In fact, tap water can be delicious, and there’s plenty you can do with it too. As well as being able to use the water supply in your home for everything from cooking to cleaning, you can also use it to make all kinds of drinks. Making a few home improvements can even help you to enjoy tap water even more.
Get an Ice Cube Maker
If you’re thinking about getting a new fridge, why not consider getting one with an ice cube maker? They’ve been popular in the US and some other countries for a long time, but they’re also starting to catch on here too. Not everyone will find an ice cube maker useful, but they’re great if you like having ice-cold drinks or you want instant access to ice for other reasons. You can use them to make whole cubes of ice, as well as crushed ice.
Install a Boiling Water Tap
On the opposite end of the spectrum, a tap that instantly produces boiling water can be pretty useful too. There’s no need to wait for the kettle to boil when you can simply turn the tap on and get hot water right away. Brands like Quooker may have started the trend, but there are many options out there for you to choose from. You can even save money on your energy bills by having one of these taps instead of boiling the kettle multiple times a day. You can use child safety locks to keep them safe too.
Soften Your Water
Some people might like to drink hard water, but for many, it can be too chalky or just not taste too good. Installing water softeners is one of the options that you have if you want to soften your water and make it taste better. You could simply use a water filter jug, but these need to be filled up all the time. If you drink a lot of water, you can end up filling them multiple times a day. A water softening system will continually soften your water, making it more pleasant to drink and helping to protect things like your kettle.

Drinking straight tap water (or turning it into ice cubes) isn’t the only way to enjoy the water coming from your taps. If you don’t feel like getting a boiling water tap, you might prefer a really good kettle or a fancy espresso machine. Another gadget to add to your kitchen is a SodaStream or similar appliance to create carbonated drinks in your kitchen.
Tap water is a great resource that you should make an effort to enjoy. You can alter the taste and even make it healthier with the right changes in your home.
