Updating some rooms with Desenio...
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you'll know just how much I love Desenio prints, my house is full of them! Prints are such an easy way to update your home without having to go crazy on full blown renovations, however they can be quite pricey. Desenio sell really affordable wall art with the option to order a frame to size and they make the whole process so, so easy. Not to mention they have such a huge variety of different prints to offer, and are constantly adding new styles to fit in with current trends.
Prints are on almost every wall in my house, I love the character that they add, and I really hate a blank wall. However, when you stare at the same 4 walls day in day out, it helps to keep home life more interesting by updating prints regularly. Sometimes I'll keep a gallery wall up for a really long time, and other times I'll switch things around to tie in with the seasons, just like you change up your decor during Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer! This year, I've felt really down over the winter months, with the amount of bad weather we've had and how dull it's been week in week out. I felt lots of my walls could do with brightening up, so I made the decision to order some new prints with lighter colours to switch things up and make things feel warmer indoors.
Choosing some prints for my bedroom
I started in my bedroom, the previous prints I had were black & white themed, and I felt a little colour lift was needed just in time for Spring to hit. My bedroom is quite a neutral space, so I didn't want to go mad colour wise, but I think I chose some really beautiful pastel prints that have added some brightness and colour without going too crazy! I love this little print set up I have on the shelf above my bed, the ceilings upstairs in my home are so high that the space just looks so empty, and I feel this really helps bring the room together and adds some lovely colour to the area. I chose the Lines No2 Poster which adds some really nice contrast with the black painted lines, Le Saules No2 Poster to add some lovely Spring florals to the mix, and the Simple Lines No2 Poster to bring everything together. I already had the white peonies poster which I decided to keep where it was to mix up the sizes!
I love how much brighter the space looks already, just swapping out all of the black & white prints for ones with a hint of colour. My bedroom is definitely ready for Spring now! In the opposite corner of the room, I also added some smaller prints, all in light wood frames to add some warmth to this empty space. The prints I picked were the Abstract Figures No3, Le Pouvoir Des Fleurs, and the Line Art Birds. I honestly think these three pair so beautifully together, especially in the lovely wooden frames. They're all very neutral and delicate, but they've added a gorgeous touch to this little corner that had nothing in it before.
Choosing some prints for the play room
Now that baby number two is coming along, I've decided to create a little play room within my living room. It's always been Ru's corner to play in, but I've made the effort to section it off from the rest of the room and add some proper toy storage. It's still a work in progress, especially as there will be lots of baby bits to add, but after we put up this book shelf, the walls were looking a little bare. I picked out some colourful child friendly prints from Desenio to add some character to the space, and I think it's worked a treat! My favourite one is the Funtastic Poster which I ordered with a poster hanger and it looks so cute. The others I picked out were the Oranges Illustration, Animals of the World Map, and the Painted Arches No1 Poster. Baby number two is a rainbow baby, so I had to have some kind of rainbow in there somewhere. They all look beautiful together and I love that one of them is a learning poster too rather than just for decoration. I also picked out the Under The Sea Poster that you can't see very well in this photo because of the light, but it's on the top bookshelf! It's a really cute print that I may move to the wall at some point.
I picked up a couple of additional prints that you'll likely see in my content soon including the Les Saules No1 Poster that I've put up on my living room gallery wall and the Donut Paradise Poster that's going to go on my kitchen wall, ideally above my coffee station. It's in a wooden frame and the colours compliment each other so well. It also makes me really hungry...
