I’ve been to Wales hundreds of times, and there really is so many beautiful places to visit, yet each location so different to the other. The best thing about Wales is that, if you live in the UK, it’s reachable by car wherever you are. All you have to do is load up and get on the road, and within a few hours you can be in the middle of the Welsh countryside, or if you prefer, in the big city. Dreamy!
If you’re thinking about taking a trip to Wales soon, I’ve got a few great spots to recommend, so keep reading to get some ideas…
Portmeirion
Portmeirion is a one to tick off the list if you’ve never been, it’s the most beautiful Italian-inspired village in the North of Wales. Full of pretty pastel buildings and riviera inspired houses, it really is a sight you have to see once in your life. If you have a furry friend you want to bring along, there’s some great dog friendly cottages in Wales in the surrounding areas.
Pembrokeshire
Full of some of the finest beaches, historic buildings, castles, and so much more – Pembrokeshire is a beautiful destination to go for a holiday. Alongside the castles, there’s adventure parks, boat trips and family festivals, so it’s perfect for the whole family. Pembroke Castle is not one to miss, as well as Barafundle Beach and Skomer Island.
Cardiff
If you fancy more of a city break, the capital of Wales, Cardiff, works perfectly! From museums full of art and culture, to stunning cathedrals and castles, to walking around the Central Market, there’s plenty of things to do and see. There’s also lots of fun festivals on throughout the year if you keep an eye out for them!
Conwy
For such a small town, Conwy is full of so many great sights to see. Not only is it an absolutely beautiful place to visit, but it contains the smallest house in Britain, Conwy Mountain, and of course – Conwy Castle! If you love submerging yourself in history, Plas Mawr the finest standing Elizabethan House is not one to miss, inside it looks exactly the same as it did back then and it’s so interesting to see. You can grab fish & chips from Conwy Quay whilst checking out the smallest house in Great Britain. Or you can head to Bodnant Gardens to unwind and look at the incredible ponds there is to see.
Eryri National Park
Eryri is Wales largest national park, also known as Snowdonia National Park, it covers 823 square miles of land. With breath-taking valleys, 15 mountains in wales over 3000 feet, including the country’s highest, Snowdon, and even some coastal areas, it’s a really special place to visit. The views are incredible from every corner and it’s a must-see at least once in your life!
I could go on, but these are just a few of my personal favourite places to visit in Wales, let me know if you’ve visited any of these areas or plan to during 2024. It’s so much fun creating a travel bucket list and ticking them off as you go!
