My Bedroom Moodboard
How cute is this bedroom moodboard? I’m obsessed. When I first moved into my current home, we didn’t do anything with our bedroom for a while due to focusing on other projects. Eventually, I got sick of the magnolia walls so we gave the whole room a lick of white paint to brighten it up and got some new bedroom furniture. It’s looked okay for a while and I’ve been happy with it, but lately I’m beginning to feel that as bright as the room is, it’s really lacking in life and colour. After recently renovating my little boys bedroom and adding lots of colour and character to the walls, I’ve been itching to give my own bedroom a makeover too.
Furniture
In terms of furniture, our current white malm drawers from Ikea are falling apart. They were only ever supposed to be temporary anyway, and just give us a space to put our clothes amongst other things. But they get a lot of hammer with their daily use, and quite frankly, I actually hate that they have no handles – I’m always catching my nails on them! We’re going to get rid of these, and I have my eye on the Oak Newton 7 Drawer Chest from Oak Furnitureland which I think will bring a lovely warmth to the room.
We only got our bed a few months ago so that’s staying, it’s the Versailles Bed Frame in Natural Stripe from Dusk and I love it. It’s not my dream bed by any means, but we really struggled to find one that was the right size for our small bedroom. Some of the others that I had my eye on, such as a couple from Loaf, were just massive and far too big for the space. This one was really quite affordable for how nice it is and I got it with a huge discount, so winning.
Our wardrobe situation is on hold for the time being as eventually we are knocking down a wall to make space for a built in/walk in wardrobe setup, but we have so many home projects on the go that this is way down the priority list. At the moment, we just have a clothes rail in our unused ensuite bathroom, not very glamorous but it works.
Colour
I was originally thinking of doing 3/4 panelling with a little gap between the ceiling and the panelling, but I have recently changed my mind and love the image on my bedroom moodboard of full height panelling, floor to ceiling. So I think I’m going to go all in with the bold colour and drench the room. I’m quite nervous and haven’t settled on a colour yet, the ones I like are either not bright enough, or too dark. So who knows which one I’ll choose, but it’s certainly going to make a drastic change to this room!
Decorative bits
I’ve bought these bow light fittings from Mrs Alice that I’m absolutely in love with, they are rechargeable so no wiring into the wall necessary, which means less work for us. I also don’t like the idea of cables hanging down the wall so these will be a dream, and they have USB-C charging ports which we have on our bedside tables for our phones anyway, so they are super handy. I think these will look gorgeous paired with a deep colour on the walls.
I’ve also bought this mirror for some contrast in colour and hopefully it will look as good as it does in my head, the green ties in nicely with the plants I’m going to have around the room, so it should work. I already have the blue cushions so there will be so much colour in the room which is my aim, hopefully nothing clashes and it all ties together beautifully. I’ve picked up a couple of new prints that are a little more vibrant than some I already have, but I think I’ll keep my gemini print as I love that one.
Overall I’m super excited for this project, we are still renovating our utility, but the bulk of it is done already so hopefully we can find some time to focus on our bedroom too.
