Summer Essentials When Working From Home…
Working from home is the dream… until a heatwave hits, and then you’re usually inside melting in your office chair! Keeping cool and having the essentials to hand is what saves you in these situations and I’m sharing my current summer essentials when working from home below…
Insulated Water Bottles
I have a 1L insulated water bottle that comes absolutely everywhere with me, it keeps my water cold all day long and really helps me stay hydrated. On hot days particularly, who wants to be drinking room temperature or worse, warm water?! Having my water stay icy cold all day is honestly a game changer and whilst the bottle is fairly large, it’s handy that it holds so much, to make sure that I avoid feeling dehydrated and sluggish.
Portable Desk Fans
Until this year, a desk fan is not something I thought I needed, but having one has been a total life changing experience when sat working away at my laptop. It keeps me feeling so cool and helps me get through my inbox much faster. I have the Shark FlexBreeze Hybrid Desktop Fan which is so versatile and can be popped on my desk for working indoors, or even brought outside with me. It comes with a pedestal so it can stay on that, or be taken off to transform into a tabletop fan. The rechargeable battery means it can also be cordless, and sometimes with the amount of things you have plugged in at a desk, that’s just what you need.
Summer Snacks
I always find I work better with a few snacks, it stops the mind from wandering to thinking about the impending lunch or dinner time. When we’re in a heatwave, it’s very easy to lose your energy levels quickly, and get into that real work slump. Healthy summer snacks like a bowl of yogurt with some fresh fruit is a great option to have sat there for when you’re peckish. I’m also partial to a nice homemade smoothie, blitzed with some ice to keep it super cold and refreshing.
Cooling Cushions
It’s fairly obvious to wear lighter, more breathable clothes when it’s super hot outside, but adding a cooling cushion to your office chair can also really help. The cooling fabric absorbs the heat so that you’re not sitting at your desk for hours feeling all hot and sweaty. They’re a clever invention made with cooling fabrics and cooling gel inside, and lots of them can even help with posture and sitting positions too. If you spend a lot of time sitting at a desk when working from home, then this could be a great investment.
Neck Fans
A neck fan can be fantastic if you really struggle with the heat, and suffer with hot flushes. Keeping that air circulating around your face and neck can make a massive difference in helping your productivity levels throughout the day. They target pulse points and major vessels in your neck to help keep you nice and cool, which is exactly the kind of thing you need in a hot stuffy office!
And if you want to add some cute summer photos to your desk then the Instax Digital Camera allows you to take and print gorgeous pictures on the go – the perfect way to spruce up your summer desk setup.
