We're having a boy!
So just a little pregnancy update for you all, most of which you may already be aware of if you follow me on Instagram where I tend to share things daily. At 16 weeks, I booked in a private gender scan and found out that Jake and I are having a baby boy! I had one of those nub theories done which said something like 80% certainty of a boy, so it's great to know that was right. I never really cared what gender we were going to have, I thought it would be nice to have a girl, as this will be my last baby so I thought, yeah, one of each would be cool. Jake and I have two boys and one girl between us, so we also thought it would be nice to even the playing field, but other than that we really weren't bothered and we weren't wishing for a girl.
As soon as I found out that it was a boy, I was actually thrilled. As a mum of one boy already, I just love being a boy mum, and having two boys is going to be the cutest, I know it already. Ru really wanted a brother so of course he was super thrilled. He's going to be the best big brother, he already kisses and cuddles my bump, asks if the baby has been kicking me daily, and chooses which of his books and toys he's going to share. There will be over a five year age gap but I can't wait to have them in twinning clothes and sharing toys. I'm so excited to see who baby boy looks like too, will he look like Ru, who is the double of me? Will he look like his dad? His sister who is the spit of her dad?! Or maybe he'll look like none of us, it's very exciting.

Second trimester...
I am currently 22 weeks pregnant, and the second trimester is going pretty well so far. I have a lot more energy than I did in the first trimester that's for sure - I wouldn't say I feel energetic every single day, but most days I manage to get lots of cleaning and work done. And other days I have a power nap right before I have to leave for the school run, but, balance right? I have been diagnosed with SPD which isn't much fun, but my midwife referred me to physiotherapy so I'm coping with it the best that I can. I've had the odd bit of sciatica in my legs (which I also had with Ru's pregnancy) but not too badly and not every day. Apart from the SPD pain, I don't really have any other lingering pregnancy symptoms. I'm not even getting reflux every day lately, some days it's horrendous but then I'll go a few days without any.
I'm finding sleeping quite difficult, mainly because I just find it impossible to get comfy on a night, and when I finally do... I wake up needing yet another wee. I have about 478294942 toilet trips a night which really doesn't help! I love my bbhugme pregnancy pillow as it's amazing for support, I can imagine I will love this even more when I get into the third trimester.
I've had sensitive breasts this entire pregnancy which I don't remember having with my first pregnancy, and I get these really intense stomach spasms completely out of the blue which I never had with Ru. I've definitely had a lot more aches and twinges with this pregnancy too, which I find weird because my body has done it all before?! I've been into the hospital multiple times because of cramping and I never went once over cramps during my first pregnancy. I'm huge this time so everything definitely knows what to do this time, but maybe that's the cause of all of the stretching and pain.

This is definitely one active little baby, I started feeling him from 15 weeks, and at 22 weeks the kicks are already visible on the outside of my stomach which is so early! Ru and Jake have been able to feel him for the last few weeks too which is really lovely. It's so nice when Jake and I are just sat watching tv and he can have his hand on my tummy able to feel him moving about. He's got incredibly active in particular over the last couple of weeks, the other night he was going crazy like he was doing gymnastics in there and that's when I caught his movement on film. I do really love feeling him and I worry when he's not very active so I hope this keeps up and he just keeps moving more the further I get into my pregnancy.
It's crazy that it's just over five weeks until I'm in the third trimester, this pregnancy really is going so quickly! I can't wait to hold him in my arms. ♥
