Our lives are busier now than they have ever been and with the working week flying by, it’s important to try and have the best work-life balance possible. It can feel tempting to spend your weekend sitting in doing nothing, but this can end up feeling a bit of a waste when you only have two days to yourself out of seven. While it’s perfectly fine to spend some time slouching around in comfy oversized t-shirts, eating your favourite snacks and watching movies, try not to do it all weekend. If you are looking to make the most of your weekend we have put together some top tips that should help you to do so.
If you’re going out, make it on a Friday if you can
If you are planning on going “out out” on a weekend, try to make it on a Friday. If you go out on a Saturday it means you have Sunday to recover (because let’s face it, we’re not all 18 anymore!) and then the weekend is over. By going out on a Friday, you have Saturday to wallow and then Sunday to spend doing something productive. It helps to make the weekend feel that bit longer and better spent!
Make a checklist of places you want to go or things you want to see
If you find that the weekend rolls around and you end up doing nothing because you can’t think of what to do, make a list ahead of time of places you want to go to or things you want to see. You could put these ideas into a jar and pull out an idea when you’re stuck for inspiration, or just pick somewhere new each weekend. This will mean you’re ticking things off your list that you’ve wanted to do and also making the most of your time off each week.
Take some time for self-care
The weekend is a great time for you to focus on self-care. Take some time to do a face mask or a hair mask. Tidy up your home, have a bath and just take some time out to reset and rejuvenate ahead of the week that is to come. You will feel much more refreshed, happier and ready to take on the next few days if you know you are looking after yourself. Take time to see family and friends, catch up and just be a bit carefree when you don’t have the same duties to work as you do during the week. It could be you do something as simple as go for a walk with friends, this can refresh your mind and also enable you to catch up with loved ones.
These are just a few top tips that should help you to make the most from your weekends going forward. As the famous saying goes, “a Sunday well spent brings a week of content” and this list is sure to help this happen. What are some ways you like to make the most of the weekend?
