The Minimalist: For world book day this year, Very encouraged me to embrace myself, be inspired by my favourite reads, and discover my wardrobe identity for the Spring season. I knew instantly that I would be the minimalist. I feel like I want to be more of a trend setter with my style, I want to add bolder colours and more playful additions to my wardrobe. But I think first and foremost, I will always be a minimalist.
I absolutely love my kindle, it comes everywhere with me, and getting stuck into a good book is my favourite hobby. I’m a sucker for a thriller and a mystery, but I would say my most-read books are in the dystopian genre, and apocalyptic themed. Most recently I finished ‘Last One At The Party’ by Bethany Clift which was a really good read. I think my style could relate a lot to the main character as she’s not massively into what’s fashionable and opts for basic, comfy outfits.
As I’ve got older, I’m all about creating a capsule wardrobe full of items that I’m actually going to wear. I love lots of neutrals and basic pieces, but I also love adding little bits of colour and more fun pieces that I can wear when I want to dress up a bit more, or I’m heading out for the evening. Anything that can be dressed up or down is a winner, and cute striped pieces are some of my favourite for an effortless but put together look.
A striped tee will always call out to me, I love this baby blue striped number from The Very Collection. It’s one of those basic pieces that I know I will be able to wear with everything and will be great through all the seasons. The baby blue shade is the perfect colour as we enter the Spring months, and I love that it adds a little colour to my wardrobe without me having to step too far out of my comfort zone.
Very have some gorgeous dresses for the Spring months and I can’t wait until it’s warm enough to wear some – the sun is out today as I type and I hope it’s here to stay! When I read a romance novel, I always think of the girly characters in gorgeous floaty dresses and that’s definitely what I love to wear when the sun comes out.
Staying on the theme of stripes, I adore this pink & brown stripe cardigan – I am a huge cardigan lover and own far too many, but they are a wardrobe staple and every single one that I own gets worn. I love wearing them with jeans, with leggings, with wide leg trousers… throughout Spring when it’s not quite hot enough, they are the perfect layering piece that can be thrown on with everything in my wardrobe.
I’m currently reading ‘The Family Upstairs’ by Lisa Jewell, who writes some incredibly hook-worthy books and I can highly recommend it if you’re looking for a thrill seeker.
Do you love reading and have any fictional characters that inspire your style?
