Three things for your home worth the investment…
When moving into a new home, it can be hard to know which items you should splurge out on, and which are worth the investment. Good quality furniture can be so expensive, and even with bargain finds, it can start to add up. Kitchen appliances soon rack up a big bill, and don’t even get me started on electronics! There are three home buys that are not necessarily first priorities, but ones I would recommend saving up for and are worthy of investing in – so keep reading to find out what they are.
High Quality Mattress
You honestly can’t put a price on a good nights sleep, and this is something I figured out over the last year or so. Jake and I had been struggling a lot with our sleep and our backs (hello thirties!) and so we decided to invest in a really good mattress. We did a lot of research and did a lot of mattress shopping and trialling, and eventually we settled on a Tempur mattress. This was a hefty investment, even buying it from an outlet store with a Black Friday deal on, but it has been so, so worthwhile I cannot even put into words how much it’s changed our lives. A good nights sleep is so important in your day to day life, and waking up well rested and without back pain is something that is so worth the investment. We have the Tempur SmartCool Medium Mattress and it’s honestly been a game-changer in terms of sleep, the cooling element is lovely too and whilst it’s lovely and cosy, we never get hot and sweaty.
Cafe-quality Coffee Machine
This really depends on if you are a coffee kind of person, but a high quality coffee machine would always be recommended by me. I have a morning coffee every single day, I cannot function without my daily dose of caffeine, and my coffee machine is literally my best friend. Not only does being able to create cafe quality coffee at home save me a fortune on takeout coffees, but I just love the morning ritual of making a delicious coffee, as well as being able to make one whenever I please. I haven’t had instant coffee in years and years, and I would never go back to it. We only buy freshly roasted coffee beans that are delivered to our door fortnightly, and it’s just that one luxury that I could never come back from. You can read my post here on our Sage Coffee Machine – it’s the best.
And if you’re not a coffee lover, I’d say invest in a boiling water tap / machine for making lovely hot tea & drinks much faster than with a kettle!
Comfy Sofa
A comfy sofa is probably one of the furniture items that you use most, second to your bed. After a long day at work, whilst eating lunch, or just simply having a chilled out weekend, a sofa is where you’re going to be. There is nothing worse than trying to get comfy on an incredibly cheap and uncomfortable sofa, so investing in one that you’re going to love and will last you a long time is so important. We currently have a Swyft Model 10 Sofa, we’ve had it for around 18 months and we still adore it. It’s so soft and comfy to sit on and the cushions have lasted really well to say we use it every single day. Our chaise is separate to the sofa too and I love that we can shuffle it around rather than it being fixed in place – so handy if you have little ones and want to make them room to play, or if your space is just small in general. We often move it when hosting to make extra seating too. A good quality, long-lasting sofa is definitely something worth the investment.
