Are you thinking about getting composite bonding and wondering if it’s worth the investment? Keep reading to hear about my experience…
I recently had composite bonding with Space Dental (scroll to the end of the post if you’re just looking for a discount!) and I’m here to tell you all about my personal experience and if I think it’s worthy of the investment into your smile. Composite bonding is one of those cosmetic treatments that a lot of people want but can’t or struggle to justify the investment. It took me a really long time to be in the position where I could afford it, but ultimately I couldn’t be happier with my new teeth.
My personal story
As a child, my teeth didnβt bother me at all, to the point that my dentist actually told me that I didnβt really need to get braces. Fast forward to my teenage years and I started to get really self conscious about my teeth and my smile, and during my young adult years I would constantly cover my mouth when I laughed. By this point, (in my opinion) it was far too late in life for me to get metal braces.
There was no way with the pressures that there is on young women and appearances, that I was walking around with a mouth full of metal. As a woman now in her early thirties, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with whatever braces you choose to have, but in my late teens/early twenties, I was incredibly anxious and self-conscious, and I just couldn’t have done it – and so Invisalign became the only route for me to go down.
I didnβt have the worst teeth in the world, but I always knew the day would come where I was going to go down the Invisalign route. However, it’s not something I invested in until I was 30, I only finished my treatment last year! I’m so glad that I finally put the money into it though, the difference it made in just sorting out some of my twisted teeth was crazy.
I also knew that eventually, I would want to get composite bonding done on my teeth and Invisalign is the first step, as they need to be perfectly straight for this treatment. I have quite small teeth and it means that my canines are quite frontal on my smile, so Iβve always had sharp pointy teeth at the front not dissimilar from βfangsβ and I really hated them. Iβd often get jokey comments about them which I laughed off, but itβs always something I intended on doing something about when I could afford to.
What is composite bonding?
Composite bonding is a non-invasive dental treatment where they adhere and blend in resin to the edges of your teeth, completely changing the shape of them without having to get an entire new set of teeth. Your natural teeth are left alone and the bonding is simply put around the bottom edges, blended into the natural colour of your teeth. It’s used to repair chips, fractures, gaps and overall just gives you a new smile, without having to go through the ordeal of veneers which is a lot more invasive and costly.
My own experience
I had my composite bonding last week and the difference is just incredible, I don’t think it’s a drastic difference to anyone else, but even just looking at before and afters, the changes are amazing. I was sat in the dentist chair for around an hour and a half to two hours, and I walked out with a brand new smile. The procedure itself didn’t hurt at all, and I just chilled out with my airpods in listening to a podcast to help pass the time. It’s not a comfortable experience, but I mean is going to the dentist ever? For how little time it took, I would do it over and over again to get these results.

How much does composite bonding cost?
This will vary depending on where you live and what dentist you go to, but I chose Space Dental who have clinics all over the country and have really great customer feedback. I can confirm they live up to those standards as I had a really good experience with them. Mine was over Β£2.5k in total but this included appointments with the hygienist, my composite bonding itself, a new retainer and whilst itβs a hefty investment, itβs one I have zero regrets over.
If youβre self conscious about your smile, then you really canβt put a price on how life changing it is to smile and laugh without feeling horrified by the sight of how everyone else is perceiving you. And yes, we should always love who we are, and I would never say to get a treatment done because of what other people think, however I 100% did this for myself and for my own confidence levels and I would absolutely recommend that anyone else do the same. Life is so short and we deserve to feel our best.
I paid for my treatment myself, however Space Dental have given me a gold card where I can get you 5% off a treatment if you book through my referral link. Click here to get 5% off and start your journey to a perfect smile π
