The beauty bits that are travelling with me...
So if you follow me on social media, you may know that Ru and I are taking a trip to Edinburgh next week for a few days. It was a bit of a spontaneous trip to be fair, but one of my 2019 goals is to travel more and post a lot more travel content on the blog - and after chatting about Edinburgh with a few friends, it inspired me to go as it's only a 4 hour drive from where I live, and you all know how much I love a good road trip... Anyway, I thought that I'd share the beauty bits that I'm taking away with me as I feel like I've been slacking in the beauty department on my blog lately, and some of you may find it interesting to see which products I can't go on holiday without!
Skincare
We'll start off with skincare as there's a few things I'm mixing up next week. The reason is because I have quite a few travel sized skincare products that I don't reach for often and I can't think of a better way to use them than for a city break! It not only saves space, but the last thing I want to be doing is packing huge bottles of cleanser and toner with everything else. For cleanser I've got a mini of the Origins Checks & Balances Frothy Face Wash, I got this in a set at Christmas and haven't actually used it yet but it's the perfect size to pop in my skincare bag to take away. For my second cleanse, I think I'm going to pour some of my go-to Bioderma Micellar Water in a small bottle as the full size is quite bulky to pack. Some of the other Origins bits I got in a gift set that I'm going to take include a mini Drink Up Intensive Mask, a mini Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Treatment Lotion and the GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream. If you don't take a face mask on holiday then what are you doing?! I have only used the treatment lotion once before so I can't really give you my thoughts on it, but I have used the drink up intensive mask and love it. I also use the GinZing eye cream on a daily basis already and it's almost ran out so I might try and hunt a full size down whilst in Edinburgh!
For moisturiser, I'm packing the Origins GinZing Gel Moisturiser which is my holy grail moisturiser at the moment. This is a 30ml so it's a pretty decent size but again, I use it so much that I think I'll need to repurchase soon. For toner I'm packing something new to my skincare stash, which is the Pixi Rose Tonic! I currently use the Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel toner but the Pixi option is smaller in size and I've been wanting to try it out for ages so now is the perfect opportunity. The last couple of skincare bits that I don't really need but just want to take, are the Sunday Riley UFO Oil and the Origins Super Spot Remover. I love the UFO oil in my daily routine and the bottle isn't too big so I don't see any harm in throwing that in there. The super spot remover is a product I haven't tried much as I usually use the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion on my blemishes, but the Origins treatment is a lot smaller in size so again, going away is a good opportunity to put it to the test!
Makeup
The makeup collection that's travelling with me is a bit larger than the skincare... and this is because I can't really go 'without' anything and I like options! I've tried to narrow it down as much as I can but my everyday go-to's haven't been able to make the cut. I usually don't bother with primer on a daily basis but as I'm going on a city break and will most likely be out and about alllll day, I've decided to pack my Urban Decay De-Slick Primer as it's the best as keeping my oiliness at bay. For concealers, I have quite a few on rotation but I'm opting for Tarte Shape Tape and the NARS Soft Matte. They both have amazing coverage so at least I know I'm safe if any breakouts appear from the long road trip. For foundation I'm just taking the NARS Sheer Glow, it has a medium coverage but isn't too heavy and it's easily my favourite base so this one is a no brainer. I'm opting for something new to my stash for my setting powder, and this is the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Powder. This was a bit of a random buy for me, I just thought it sounded good and it had good reviews, I haven't put it to the full test yet but it's quite a small powder so it's a good one to take away. I've also got a miniature Wonder Glow popped in there as this is another favourite of mine.
For bronzer and highlight, I'm just taking the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow. This has been at the back of my makeup drawer for a while now but it's one of those products that I always remember I have and fall back in love with again. It's perfect for travelling with as it saves taking two separate products, and the bronzer & highlight shades are perfect for everyday wear! For blush I'm taking the Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic in the shade First Love, this is my absolute fave everyday blush at the mo so again, no brainer on this one. For my brows I'm taking two staples, the ABH Brow Wiz and the Benefit 24 Hr Brow Setter. I use these most days and they are my fave brow products. You all know how much I love eyeshadow so keeping this section small is harrrrrd but I think I'm just going to take the newest palette to my collection which is the Natasha Denona Camel Palette. It has everything I need for an everyday bronze eye and it's so gorge. For eyeshadow primer, it's obviously the Too Faced Shadow Insurance, my holy grail. I've also decided to take the Bobbi Brown Sparkle Stick in Molten Bronze - I KNOW I KNOW it was limited edition, but I try and use it as little as possible these days, so a holiday is a good excuse to dig it out. I'll also be taking the Charlotte Tilbury Rock n Kohl in Bedroom Black as I cannot be without lining my upper lash line and this one stays in place all day. Fave. For Mascara, I've been loving the Too Faced Better Than Sex and I've just upgraded from a mini to a full size because I love it that much. FINALLY, for lipsticks, I'm obviously taking two or three because I like options okay. I'm definitely going to take Charlotte Tilbury Hepburn Honey, as it's my most worn everyday nude at the moment. And then I *think* I'm going to pop in MAC Half & Half which is a bit of a darker nude option and Charlotte Tilbury Sexy Sienna for a pop of coral if it's sunny and I'm feeling like it. Don't hold me to this as I may just throw in another five lipsticks at last minute but so far this is my plan.
Wow that was a lot of makeup wasn't it? But I got there in the end. So those are the beauty bits I'm taking away, let's face it I will never be one to travel light but I think I've narrowed it down as much as I possibly can and I'm happy with my picks!
