A mini office makeover…
I really loved my previous little office corner, but I got to the point where I was rarely using it and needed to give the area a mini makeover. I’d been using the same desk for over four years, that had originally been a vanity, and the small size of it just wasn’t cutting it for work space anymore. My business has grown immensely, I’m much much busier, and I now use multiple devices that I need the room for. It doesn’t really make sense having a desk and working from the sofa or dining table on my laptop, but I just seemed to be able to spread out more over the dining and coffee table?!
Anyway, come January, I was ready for a fresh start to the year with a brand new office makeover. I knew I wanted a bigger desk which meant a total reshuffle and moving my office area to the opposite side of the room, but it turned out totally worth it.

My office desk
I originally ordered this desk from La Redoute, which granted, was wider, but because of the shape it ended up that it wasn’t really any bigger at all and it had to go back. It was a real shame because it was a stunning desk, I was definitely reluctant to let go! I ordered this desk, also from La Redoute, instead which is much, much bigger and it’s absolutely perfect. With tons of storage, space for my devices, a cute lamp, plus storage baskets and lots more, it’s become the office desk of dreams.
It has one side cupboard on the left, three drawers on the right, and an open shelf in the middle so the storage feels almost endless. Not to mention, there’s loads of room for baskets and things on the top, too! The oak veneer is quite fragile, but it’s got a lovely smooth finish and really looks the part. I read online the rattan is fragile but I haven’t found it to be in my case, it seems pretty strong. I’ve actually put a desk mat on the top, just to give it a bit more protection – this is particularly useful for when I’m doing colouring.

The decor
I picked out a new lamp, also from La Redoute, to go with my new desk, and it’s this one which I love so much. I love a scallop lamp shade and the green ceramic base really compliments it nicely. I own a lot of pink accessories, so I love mixing in some greens as I think green and pink work so lovely together. I kept the same shelves and two of the prints from my previous office setup, adding in just one new print that I stole from my bedroom upstairs. I wasn’t feeling that one in there anyway, and it was a good excuse to swap it out!
I got myself some new scalloped storage baskets from Matalan which were super affordable and not just practical, but pretty too. I think that the ones I picked up are now out of stock, but this one is quite similar to the one that I have on top. I often get asked where my pink stationary pot is from, and it was a Sostrene Grene find that I actually bought when I was in the store whilst in France in 2023. It’s one of my fave desk accessories, and holds lots of pens, paper clips, scissors and that kind of stuff – not sure if they still sell it?
Other than that, I just like to decorate with little bits and bobs like pretty candles, the odd aesthetic perfume bottle, nice match pots, and a couple of boujee lamps like this pink oyster lamp. You can shop some of the items below. Let me know if you love it as much as I do!
