My Transitional Beauty Picks
Now that Autumn is in full swing, I’ve been changing up my skincare and makeup routine to adapt to my drier skin. I’ve been adding in more hydrating products for the most part, within my skincare as well as my daily makeup – it’s that time of year where we’ve left Summer but aren’t in the depths of Winter yet and I find it a very transitional process when it comes to my routine. I’m not quite needing a full on hydrating routine yet, but I can definitely feel my skin getting drier with less sun and more cold days. It’s been ages since I did a beauty round-up and I miss doing them so I thought I’d share some of the products that I’m using lately.
Skincare
Skincare is what I tend to focus the most on, I need a smooth and hydrating base for makeup application and I hate my face feeling dried out. These are the products I’ve been loving the most…
BOBBI BROWN VITAMIN ENRICHED FACE BASE
I absolutely love the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, if you’ve read some of my previous skincare posts then you’ll know how much! It’s on the pricier side but it lasts so long as you only need to use a small amount and it’s the perfect morning moisturiser. It’s a primer and moisturiser in one so it’s perfect for applying before makeup to not just hydrate your skin but prime it too. It leaves my skin feeling so silky and soft and looking so glowy like summer skin. Love!
CRABTREE & EVELYN MIXED BERRY OIL BOOSTER
I received this as part of an ad campaign a while back and put it to the back of my skincare drawer over the summer as I didn’t need it. However, it’s come back out and has now become a daily staple in my skincare routine! The Crabtree & Evelyn Mixed Berry Oil Booster from The Gardeners collection is an amazing oil that you can add to any moisturiser that you’re using to give it an ultra hydrating boost. You can also apply it on it’s own if your skin is feeling and looking dull and in need of some serious hydration and glow. I mostly apply it on it’s own and then add my moisturiser on top and it leaves my skin feeling like a dream!
ESTEE LAUDER ADVANCED NIGHT EYE REPAIR
The Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex (wow come on EL, give it a shorter name) is my currently daily eye cream go-to. It targets ageing and fatigue around the eye area but the formula is so luxe and creamy and it leaves my eye area feeling so lovely and hydrated. It’s a creamy gel formula so it’s really refreshing and cooling too which I find lovely, particularly on mornings! It feels so luxurious to use as it leaves the under eye area feeling so silky, a definite must-try.
ORIGINS DRINK UP INTENSIVE HYDRATING MASK
I think this is a firm fave amongst the beauty community but it’s definitely not overhyped. I love Origins in general, every single skincare product they do is amazing and the Drink Up Intensive Hydrating Mask is no exception! It contains avocado and Swiss glacier water to really nourish the skin and it’s a dream to apply. It’s really thick but sinks into the skin with ease and even though it’s an overnight mask, it’s fully settled into my skin within five to ten minutes. My favourite kinds of masks are the ones that your skin just soaks up as I can’t be doing with sticky skin, especially all over my pillow! I wake up with such soft, supple skin after having this soaking into my face all night so I’d definitely recommend it for the colder months.
Makeup
When it comes to transitional makeup, I’m opting for some Autumnal tones, but also things that I find really hydrating for that extra boost on top of my skincare. Some of my makeup can be really drying so I will definitely change it up compared to my summer picks.
LAURA MERCIER TINTED MOISTURISER
Tinted moisturisers are usually more known for summer bases, and I definitely reach for them in the summer months – however, I’ve carried on using the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser as it’s really pigmented and has such good coverage. Not only that, but it’s so so hydrating too so I think it’s perfect for the colder days as well. Generally in winter I tend to go for fuller coverage bases but the coverage on this is so good that it’s perfect!
NARS ORGASM BLUSH
I love my NARS Orgasm Blush and usually I think I’d dig this out in the summer months but this year I’ve ended up getting it out for my Autumn makeup routine instead as I think the extra glow is perfect for dull skin! I either don’t use highlight at all with this or I barely use any so that’s how lovely and glowy it is. I love how it makes my cheeks look all rosy too.
BOBBI BROWN & BEAUTY PIE EYESHADOW STICKS
I’m a huge fan of an eyeshadow stick as they’re a one swipe kinda thing and I’m all about a quick morning makeup routine. My two current favourites are the Bobbi Brown Longwear Eyeshadow Stick in Golden Bronze and the Beauty Pie Longwear Cream Eyeshadow Stick in Huntress. I truly love both and don’t really have a favourite as I reach for both on a regular basis, but to sum it up, the Bobbi Brown pick is more bronze whereas the Beauty Pie one has a more golden tone, and if I’m feeling like something a bit extra, the Beauty Pie stick has more sparkle. If I’m not doing much I usually opt for the Bobbi Brown one as it still has the shimmer, just isn’t as sparkly! They’re both beautiful bronze toned shadow sticks though and the perfect easy to wear shades for the Autumn months.
MAC CHILI
I looove Mac Chili for a deep red lip, it’s a gorgeous bold lipstick but it’s matte and not too in your face. I love it’s staying power and just think it’s a gorgeous shade for the Autumn months. You can see it in action below!
BOBBI BROWN CRUSHED OIL-INFUSED GLOSS
The Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Glosses are perfect for the colder seasons as they add a bit of glow to your face, but this formula is so hydrating so it’s ideal for when your lips are feeling really dry. I usually pop on a lipstick to shape my lips and add pigment, and then pop the gloss on top. My favourite every-day shade is Sweet Talk as it’s the most gorgeous peachy nude and goes with everything.
You can pick up some great deals on skincare at this time of year, from places such as Deep Ambition.
