I recently picked up two of the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in Autumn appropriate shades & I’m in love!
I’ve been wanting to try out the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils for absolutely ages but at £20 each I didn’t know if they would live up to the price tag. I also find with lip pencils that you lose a lot of product when sharpening them and because these are on the pricier end for a lipstick, I was a bit wary about how long they would last too. Anyway I wanted to treat myself to a couple of Autumn lip shades so I thought that I would finally pick up a couple of these lip pencils.
I absolutely love the packaging of NARS products, it’s so simple but elegant and I love their logo. I’ve sharpened each pencil once already as I couldn’t resist trying them out before I got around to photographing them for the blog, so I ended up ruining the beautiful new nib! I found that I hardly lost any product so I’m quite pleased as this means they’ll last a lot longer than I thought. I recommend the NARS Pencil Sharpener if you buy any of these as I bought it at the same time as the pencils and it’s amazing! It has a normal size sharpener as well as the jumbo sharpener and it’s such good quality. I’m so in love with both shades of the pencils, and the formula of them is gorgeous to apply. They’re so creamy and easy to apply to the lips but still dry down into a long lasting matte that isn’t drying whatsoever. I always find lip pencils are really easy to apply anyway but because these are so soft and creamy, it’s even easier!
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil: Walkyrie | £20.00
Walkyrie is a gorgeous deep warm brown toned colour that is the ultimate Autumn shade, I wore this yesterday and got lots of compliments! I find it similar to the likes of Mac Velvet Teddy which applies as quite a dark nude on me because I’m pretty pale. It’s really pigmented and you hardly need to apply any to cover the lips so I love that about it. I was out all day including eating & drinking and found it hardly budged a bit so I’m really happy with how long wearing it is. It’s definitely going to be one of my go-to’s throughout A/W.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil: Dolce Vita | £20.00
Dolce Vita is a warm dusty rose colour, that’s a little pink based but again is another gorgeous Autumn shade. It’s perfect for day & night wear and looks like a shade that will suit most skin tones. It’s a really pretty shade and is a lovely option for a more girly lip if that’s the kind of shade you tend to go for. Again this is another long wearing shade and is perfect for an everyday lip all year round if you want something that’s a little more bold than your average nude lipstick. I can’t wait to wear this more!
So those are the two shades that I picked up, I absolutely love both and can’t wait to experiment with what eye makeup they’ll look good paired with. I usually dig out the liquid lipsticks when it hits A/W but I’m finding them to be a little bit too drying at the moment so these matte lip pencils are absolutely perfect.
