It might be August, but that doesn’t mean that it’s too late to head away – some of the UK’s best holiday locations are yet to hit their summer peak yet, so you can still find a great getaway that the whole family can enjoy, and we mean the WHOLE family. The holiday locations that we’ve selected to look into today are the UK’s most dog friendly holidays, so you can take your four-legged companion with you on your adventures! From north to south, east to west, we’ve compiled spots that offer something for everyone, whether that’s national heritage sites, glorious beaches, or activities to keep the kids entertained!
Anglesey
For coastlines galore, Anglesey has to be your first port of call. With 125 miles of glorious beaches, there’s nowhere quite like it in the UK. You and your dog will love to explore the open beach spaces that line the area, spending your time exploring the sandy coves and fresh sea air in your summer escape from the city – there are lots of dog friendly hotels in the area, so you’re sure to be able to find a place to stay for you and your pooch!
Cumbria and The Lake District
The perfect place for the modern explorer! When you head to The Lake District, you can expect to spend your time having adventures galore, whether that’s climbing the local peaks, heading to the water, or taking a trip to one of the 20 dog-welcoming heritage sites in the region; you’ll never be bored on your trip up north. You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to hotels for you, the family, and the pup when you hit the Lake District – you can opt for quaint little B&B’s, cute cottages, or head to somewhere a little more upscale like Inn On The Square in Keswick where you’ll be glad to find a dogs-allowed restaurant and a mouth-watering AA rosette award winning steakhouse that’s help to fulfil the hunger you’ve built up through a day of exploring!
Cornwall
Probably the undisputed king of dog friendly holidays, there’s nowhere more frequently visited by dog owners than the UK’s most southern point. Again, offering glorious beaches, but this time with a more likely promise of summery weather conditions, the south coast is your best bet if you’re looking to relax and maybe even catch a few rays! It’s estimated that nearly 14,000 holidaymakers brought their dogs to Cornwall with them in 2017, so it’s a tried, tested, and beloved holiday destination for dog owners and dog lovers alike!
So, as you can see there’s plenty of options when it comes to taking your pampered pooch away on holiday with you – it’s much nicer than having to put them in a kennel for the week and gives you all the chance to get away for a little while, get some fresh air, and spend some time bonding as a family. Whether it’s a fun-packed family holiday or just a relaxing trip to the beach, there’s no reason your dog shouldn’t get an invite to the party!
