About Engino
Engino is a brand that designs STEM toy sets aimed at children of all ages.. The company was founded by Costas Sisamos in 2004, who had a vision to help his students become better problem solvers and future innovators. The first Engino sets were launched in 2007 and soon started attracting the interest of international toy stores and education specialists - and it's not hard to see why. Fast forward to this day and they now stock over 50 different sets, ranging from simple structures for littles and mechanisms and wireless robotics for older ages.
When I first came across Engino, I was instantly intrigued, Reuben is approaching 5 and a half now and is gradually getting much more developed in terms of how his mind works. Since starting school in September, he's grown up immensely and he seems to learn things so fast, that I love to challenge his little mind whenever I can to help encourage that. I think Engino fits the bill perfectly for this, because it's essentially exactly what their builds aim to do. They're a challenge, they make little minds have to really think and work hard to engineer their builds and it's a fantastic concept for fine motor and thinking skills.
How Engino Works
The Engino toy system is a super advanced and versatile three dimensional construction toy, which consists of a system of multi-faceted rods and connectors that allow connectivity up to 6 sides simultaneously. It enables children to build fast and easy, simple or complex models using a low number of different components and parts. When you read into it, it actually sounds fairly straightforward, but when it comes to the actual builds they can be quite complex which I think is needed to challenge little minds. When we first received our sets, even I had to sit and think about how it all worked, so I think it's great for keeping your children engaged and busy!
The Engino Subscription Box
The Engino Subscription Box is a line that invites children to join Gino & Gina in their adventure stories, exploring how things work and developing new skills. It's a STEM Club Subscription box that combines Engino's award-winning toys with e-learning programs. The subscription boxes contain an assortment of puzzles, activities, stories as well as mechanical builds so that little ones can practice their skills and imagination whilst they play. The boxes range from 3+ for junior engineers, to 6+ for young engineers, and 9+ for master engineers. There's a box suited for all ages, the one that we personally have is the 3+ for junior engineers which is fab.
In the Junior Engineers subscription box for ages 3-6, a box is delivered monthly to your doorstep following the story of Gino & Gina, the twins, who love science, travelling and helping animals. Your little ones can learn exciting facts about animals, vehicles, sea creatures and aircrafts. You get 6 activities in the box, a board game, an app, a story book, activity book, model building and a progress poster.
It's a great way for parents to get involved with the story reading and playtime and can give you something for you to bond over with your child. I find this is great for us in particular as I have a little boy who is into all things vehicles, building, and things that I have no interest or knowledge in myself, so it's lovely to sit and do these boxes together whilst watching him learn new things.
I really love how the boxes are themed too, so for example in one of our monthly boxes, we followed the instructions to build a submarine and the story followed Gino & Gina on a sea adventure in a submarine, identical to the one we built. The activity book also followed the same sea theme and had submarine colouring in pages and activities for Ru to do. We've built a submarine and a quad bike so far, but still have a couple more boxes to get through. Our next builds include a ship and a tractor which Reuben is really excited for as a huge lover of any kind of car and vehicle!
In each box that you receive, you get a few pieces of the board game to play and eventually they will all connect together to form one big game which is really cool too. It's also nice that you can get siblings and the rest of the family involved in the games, so they can actually be a lovely monthly family activity.
Overall, we are really impressed with Engino as a brand as well as the subscription boxes. They really are such a great play activity that's so good for a little ones imagination and development skills. Reuben loves school and learning, but he definitely picks things up a lot faster doing activities that he actually enjoys doing, and these toy boxes fit the bill with the variety and fun that they bring to the table.
Have you heard of Engino and would you try these subscription boxes with your little ones?
