The exhaustion of motherhood has well and truly hit and beauty products are in need to help hide it…
My bubba is a month old this week and it’s safe to say I have already had many long nights where he just won’t settle. I’ve started to get the most horrendous dark under eye circles from the lack of sleep so my makeup routine has had to change in order to hide the buggers. With a screaming baby, it’s also difficult most days to get any time to myself so I’ve also been reaching for easy go-to products rather than the ones I’d usually use. I’m not going to list everything I’ve been using, I’m just going to name a few of the essentials I’ve found to be really handy.
The Body Shop Elderflower Unperfumed Eye Gel | £7.50
I received this as a gift recently and I’ve been loving using it under my eyes over my dark circles, it cools the skin and it just feels really refreshing. It’s so nice to use, especially on a morning when I’m extremely tired from lack of sleep and it’s perfect to apply before makeup to wake you up a little. I recommend this if you’re a contact lens wearer too, sometimes when you’re very tired you can get sore eyes and it can be difficult to get your contacts in but this stuff will really help!
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer | £22.50
This has almost run out and I don’t know if I’m going to repurchase it as I’m tempted to try out Urban Decay’s Naked Concealer but I love using this to brighten my eye area. I did go off this for a while but with my dark under eye circles getting so bad, I’ve found a love for it again because it just really brightens up the eye area and it’s perfect for helping me to look a lot more awake. There’s no doubt it does a fab job of helping to cover up my dark circles too, the only downfall for me is that it does crease a bit.
Mac Studio Finish Concealer | £12.50
Pretty sure this is usually £15.00 but it seems to be £12.50 on House of Fraser which is pretty good?! Anyway this concealer is my absolute favourite concealer of all time, I’ve been using it for years. It’s got the best coverage, it’s incredibly creamy and it just covers everything up so so well. It’s the best coverage I’ve ever found a concealer to have, I use it on all of my redness and also on my dark under eye circles just to get even more coverage to hide them. I can’t recommend this concealer enough!
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Palette | £49.00
Whilst I was heavily pregnant, I was reaching for this gem all the time because of how easy it is to use as well as being gorgeous. It’s just one of those beauty products that’s really easy to have to hand if you don’t want to faff about with your makeup. I love the bronzer as it’s not too heavy and the highlight is just beautiful for brightening up the skin and giving a gorgeous glow. I’m still reaching for it now I’ve had my little boy because I just don’t have much time to do my makeup these days so it’s perfect. It really is worth the price tag, I’ve had mine for absolutely ages and still not hit the pan.
Zoeva Rose Gold Luxe Cheek Finish Brush | £15.00
I bought the Zoeva Luxe Face Paint Brush to contour with but I recently bought this one and I find it much easier to use if I’m trying to do my makeup as quickly as possible. It obviously isn’t going to give you a really defined contour but it’s fab for quickly applying bronzer seamlessly. I also use it for applying blusher with and even my highlight sometimes, it just works for everything, I love it so much!
Urban Decay Naked Palette | £38.50
I forgot to include this in the photo but this is my favourite palette at the minute for quickly dabbing a bit of eyeshadow on to add something to my eyes. I tend to go for the matte browns mostly with the highlight shade in the inner corner but I sometimes use the shimmery shades on my lid too. I just find it a really easy go-to palette with plenty of neutral shades.
Rimmel London Kate Nude Lipstick in Shade 43 | £5.50
To finish off my makeup I like to apply a little bit of lipstick but nothing too major, just a splash of colour and then some lip balm on top. The Rimmel Kate Nude in Shade 43 is a really lovely shade to wear that’s not too bold or over the top, and it’s also really creamy to apply so it’s effortless to wear.
If you have any recommendations of other easy go-to products or concealers that will hide my dark under eye circles well, let me know!
