Let’s dive into the GrandmaCore trend…
GrandmaCore is the biggest new home decor trend which seems to consist of a good mix of both vintage and retro elements. I’ve noticed that vintage decor has become increasingly popular amongst home creators over the last year or so, with many posting regular antique decor finds and sharing the best antique shops to go to. I think this love for antique decor is what has brought us this new GrandmaCore interior trend and I have to say, I love it!
The trend consists of the below:
Vintage & Antique Decor: The heart of GrandmaCore lies in the vintage charm, think things like warm wooden furniture, fine china, lace linens, and all of the things that create that nostalgic atmosphere that feels like you’re taken back to sitting in your Grandma’s home as a child.
Cosy Elements: An important part of GrandmaCore is the cosiness and comfort. Soft furnishings, blankets and cushions and all of those earthy tones really bring in that cosy vibe.
Florals & Greenery: Floral patterns are a staple for the GrandmaCore style, these can be brought in through bed linens or artwork in vintage frames. Houseplants add that feeling of bringing the outdoors inside to create a space that feels connected to nature.
Handmade & Sentimental Items: GrandmaCore is all about celebrating the art of homemaking, so bringing in homemade things like blankets and ceramics really add that charm. It’s important to bring in a personal touch, but going to antique shops and buying decor that’s been passed down for generations is a great way to do this too. It’s all about embracing vintage pieces to create a charming and lived-in space.
Whilst the GrandmaCore trend is far from the style of my own home interiors, I still appreciate the beauty of a good antique find. I personally love so many different home interior styles, and whilst I don’t incorporate many of them into my own home (imagine how chaotic that would be?!) I still love browsing the styles and trends all the same. I think that’s the beauty of having a passion for home interiors, you can appreciate any and every style, but it doesn’t mean you have to incorporate all of those styles into your own home. If I had multiple homes, they’d definitely all look completely different!
GrandmaCore Bedroom Inspo…
If you’re wanting to create a cosy GrandmaCore bedroom, then here is lots of inspiration with some ideas and links thrown in of the kind of pieces you can pick up to make the perfect cosy GrandmaCore space!
I love the idea of incorporating a gallery wall filled with antique frames and artwork into your bedroom, above are three beautiful examples of this. I’m a big fan of gallery walls above beds anyway, but these really are dreamy and full of character. The brass picture frames and the floral paintings are a match made in heaven. Wooden beds are perfect for the GrandmaCore trend as they really add that warmth and timeless look. I love the idea of adding a four poster bed too, which originate from the 13th century, so they would really tie in with that antique style.
Adding greenery compliments almost any and every interior style, but just look how whimsical it looks in the GrandmaCore style bedroom. It adds such a homely feel, and really compliments the warmth and wooden tones. The floral rugs and bed linens are a must-have for the GrandmaCore trend too, they’re absolutely classic and really complete the space beautifully.
Layering lace bed sheets with floral bedspreads and cushions is a great way to really bring in those GrandmaCore elements, and you can see above just how dreamy they look together. An antique lampshade would really finish off the room nicely, you can normally pick these up in charity or antique shops.
A great way to add in that personal charm could be with pretty much any antique find, but you can start with small touches such as a handmade cushion cover or blanket, or any other crafting project you feel like trying out. It’s always nice to add something your own grandma has made too – I know my grandma has knitted thousands of things over the years.
I’ve popped some links below of some things you could pick up if you’re in the midst of creating a GrandmaCore style bedroom, feel free to have a good browse even if it’s just for some inspiration!
