Boys room moodboard…
As usual we are trying to do far too many DIY projects at once, and this week our focus is on the boys room, now that my youngest is a little older and sleeping through, we’ve had a bedroom switch around and put the boys in together. They’re both very excited about it and already loving sharing a room, but as the whole room has been turned upside down, I figured it was time to make it nice and special for them.
Both of my boys are pretty chill and don’t care to have a say in things like what clothes I buy for them, or what decor their bedroom has, but they’re always so happy and excited with the things that I choose which is fab. I’ve decided to go with a blue theme as it’s my eldests favourite colour and I think it’s a great base colour to pair with lots of other lovely colours like yellows, oranges and greens.
I knew I wanted to panel the wall behind where their beds are going, but I wasn’t sure what type of panelling to go for, so I got up a couple of different options via Pinterest and asked my eldest which he liked best. He picked the shiplap panelling so that’s the one we’re going with! The colour I’ve picked is ‘Kittiwake’ by Farrow & Ball and it’s the most lovely blue which is (hopefully) going to look gorgeous all around the room.
They have blinds up on their window already but no curtains, so to make the window look less ‘bare’ I’m hoping to add a frame around it and paint it blue to blend in with the panelling. I’ve never tried anything like this before, so I’m not sure how it’s going to turn out, but I have my fingers crossed that it’s going to be cute.
I’ve already got the two beds, which are the MINNEN from Ikea, I’ve had one of them since my eldest was a toddler and we love them, especially because they are extendable. I’ve also bought them this bedside table from Dunelm which is the most gorgeous baby blue shade. I saw this bedding on John Lewis too, which I fell in love with, and I love that it’s double sided. I can’t decide which side I like more… but I think it’s the stars!
I can’t wait to see it all come together, what do you think?
